Hi. I wish I could give you an exact answer, but unfortunately, my source citations are missing for Adam Hawk. I either found the information in the Marx Room at Easton Public Library in this book: " Genealogy of Conrad and Elizabeth (Borger) Hawk, 1744-1990 / by Atwood James Shupp") OR I found it on ancestry.com in one of the four public member trees that list Adam Hawk as David Hawk's father. David Hawk (b. 1781) was my 5th great grandfather. I hope this helps (slightly). I do not know anything about our ancestors' original country of origin.

Hi, my family is descended from Jacob Hawk, b1812. I haven't been able to get beyond David Hawk & Catherine George. How did you verify that Adam Hawk is David's father? Thanks for your help.
My grandmother, Sadie Grace Hawk, informed us that her family was from England, but moved to Holland because of religious persecution; from Holland they immigrated to the United States. She said their name was originally spelled Hauk.

Hawk Family Records

I was “gifted” with a box of genealogy having to do with one of my family lines after a researcher passed away. In the box is also a lot of other family lines that aren’t mine. (2 pages)

The ones below seem to be grouped together as I've grouped them. I would presume that these files in the groups would go to a researcher as a unit.

Group 1:
Smith – Thomas Leslie Smith, Missouri, born Pittsylvania Co, Va to John Wesley Smith and Sally Saunders Claytor Leftwich
Leftwich – Bedford Co., Va.
Gregory – includes Minter, Adair Co., Ky, other Ky counties, Powhatan Co, Va., John Gregory Rev War Vet, (quite a bit of research)
Minter – Fayette County, Ky, Powhatan Co, Va. (one letter only)
McConnell – Arthur in Washington Pa, then to Ky, Ohio and Indiana and then his children and grandchildren to Illinois and Iowa, John McConnell served in War of 1812 from Ohio Militia, Brown Co.
Yes, Electa married Jacob Switzer Hawk. We visited the Cemetery in Keokuk where they are both buried and saw their old house and farm. I have been trying to nail down her father, and I have some really good clues that it was Elijah Hawk. Do you know much about the Henson family, or about Cerilda's husband John? I think I found a record that he was in jail, which is why on one of the Census entries, Cerilda is the head of the household and she still marks her status as married. I would really like to share info. Please drop me a note. My email is christopherrobins@q.com.

I spotted your post re Ally Hawk. Should you be interested, an "Ally Jones" is listed in the settlement of the estate of Susannah Hawk (copied from "Complete Probate Book 14 page 540-541". I have wondered if Ally is one of the twin daughters born to Henry Hawk and his wife Susannnah Flaugher in 1815. Would be pleased to share what I have with you if you think it fits.
I am sorry I did not try to look up Jenny & Joann Hawk before now. I could have probably saved you some time or heart-ache if they were willing to be family. Dr. Bray Hawk was always kind to me; but the sibs were usually pretty tight-knit. Even after 3 years of Nursing School with Jenny, her friends from Nursing School were not even invited to a wedding shower or her wedding nor any of the announcements of her childrens births. It seemed like after Nursing School and her snagging a doctor for a husband, she then forgot about us & never attempted to contact any of us during the years to follow.

When I made that post, the info that I had was limited, but now I know more than I should. By doing so, I have over-stepped some boundries that affected the lives of some. In my quest for closure, I ended-up letting my emotions get the better of me and didn't think about the consequences of my actions.
Hawk Brothers Draw Guns

"Brothers Draw Guns"
Kinston Free Press newspaper of Kinston, Lenoir County, NC
November 3, 1903

Newbern, Nov. 2 — What came near terminating in a tragedy occurred today at the post office of the Pine Lumber Company, of this city, where two brothers were the principles. The matter was over a financial dispute. J.E. Hawk, one of the parties involved, is president of the company, which does a large business, and the other, E.G. Hawk, is manager of one of the small mills of the company at Croatan, 10 miles from this city. It seems that J.E. Hawk had suspician that the financial affairs of E.G. Hawk were not what they ought to be so this morning J.E. Hawk, learning that his brother was in the city, drove to Croatan and got possession of the books used at the mill and brought them back with him.

When E.G. Hawk had been informed of his brother’s actions he went to the office of the company and demanded that the books be returned to him, but upon refusal, witnesses says, he drew his revolver and then demanded the books. The other ran his hand to his hip in an attempt to draw his pistol, but W.F. Aberley, secretary and treasurer of the company, interferred, and in the melee one gun was exploded, but no damage was done. An officer arrived on the scene and arrested all the parties. The preliminary trial was held this afternoon and E.G. Hawk was held under $100 bond for his appearane at court, also $500 justified bond that he would keep the peace for six months. Aberley was put under a $50 bond.

Taneya
Kinston Free Press Blog - http://kinstonfreepress.wordpress.com

I am not a Hawk, but I went to Lutheran Medical School of Nursing in Saint Louis. Jennifer and Joanne Hawk, daughters of Bray and Florence Hawk both graduated from there also. Son, Thomas Hawk is an Orthopedic Surgeon in Saint Louis. Dr. Bray Hawk was on staff at multiple hospitals. One of his favorite was the old Incarnate Word Hospital on Lafayette Ave. The family home is still located on Longfellow Avenue in Compton Heights neigborhood...many are $300-500,000+ home from the gilded era. Try the Saint Louis Post Dispatch Archives for the Orbituarties...his was posted after his dead and listed all of his 'known' children and grandchildren and the home towns as well. Good Luck.

Bethel, CT) around 1907. They had at least three children William S, Florence Mae and Mariette. All appear to have been born in Ridgefield, CT.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Ohhzon (ohhzone@gmail.com)
