William Hawkey (b.1859), son of Frederick/Eliza, of Darke Co., OH, husband of Nettie Hapner

I have an original carte de visite photograph of “William and Nettie Hawkey”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in about 1885-1887, in Greenville (Darke Co.) OH, and they look to be about in their upper 20s.

I found William Hawkey in the 1870 census for Butler (Darke Co.) OH, son of Frederick and Eliza. William was age 12 in 1880, and still living at home with parents. Nettie Hapner was in the same Butler 1880 census, with her parents, Alexander and Izabell Hapner. In 1900 Harrison (Preble Co.) OH census, William’s DOB is listed as Feb 1859 and Nettie as Jun 1861.

Ancestry OneWorldTree shows William Edward Hawkey with DOB 11 Feb 1859, and that he died 1928 Wayne Co., IN. OWT says that he was married to Nettie J. Hapner in Apr 1887.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to William & Nettie Hawkey.

Joseph HAWKEY of Trekinning

Seeking information on the abovenamed of Trekinning, St Columb Major, Cornwall, attorney at Law,who seems to have died circa 1711/12. His will names, inter alia, his wife Mary, his mother Burrows (from Wadebridge?) and sisters Lucy BOND and Frances HOCKER (Hooker) - together with 3 of the latter's children. Mention also is made of Joseph's kinsmen - Joseph s/o Daniel HAWKEY of Penzance (Mayor of Penzance ?) and the former's brothers James & Daniel, Richard HAWKEY of St Dennis gent and John HORE.

According to Vivian's Visitations Lucy BOND was a daughter of John MATHEW of Tresungers, St Endellion and Mary VIVIAN of Trewan who marr Henry BOND of Holwood, Quethiock (possibly circa 1700). There is no mention of a Frances MATHEW. According to Lake's Parochial History Joseph HAWKEY's father - another Joseph - married twice, firstly to a Mathew from Tresungers (possibly Mary MATHEW nee Vivian is meant - but there seems a date conflict) and secondly to a Burroughs (Burrows) who was the mother of Joseph jnr.

I am seeking to discover more about Joseph HAWKEY jnr and to find the parents of his sister Frances HOCKER (marr John HOCKER of St Breock probably circa 1680) i.e. was she a Mathew or Hawkey prior to marriage. Any help will be gratefully received.
Yes, well, my family has also been traced back to Cornwall. From what I've been told, at present, there is an entire street in Cornwall in which basically only Hawkeys live. I'm not sure if that's true, but my great unvle went and visited them, so, I guess it's true.

Like I asked before, please email me, it would be much appreciated!

Angels
xxx

Hi. I've just traced my grandmother, Mary Hawkey, and the rest of her family to London in the 1901 UK census, except that one of her brothers, Joseph, does not seem to be in Britain at that time.
I have been given to understand that he was in the Boer War, which could account fo his absence, and would put him in South Africa at that time! His great gandfather, who brought his father up, and one of his brothers were called William, so it is a family name. As far as we know he never married and spent his life wandering the world.
My imagination runs riot when it comes to the past!!
Regards,
Sheila.
My imaginati

Richard HAWKEY Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada 1800s

I am searching for any and all information on Richard HAWKEY and his descendants. Richard was born in England about 1839 and emigrated in the 1850s to the Township of Fullarton, in Perth County, Canada West with his parents, Richard and Susan HAWKEY. Richard married Martha BURTON on 17 October 1860 in the Township of Darlington, Durham County. Martha BURTON was born about 1839 in Upper Canada, probably in the Township of Scarborough, York County. Martha's parents were William and Ann BURTON.

The Lovell's Dominion Directory of Canadians for 1871 lists Richard HAWKEY as a cabinetmaker on Prospect Street in Bowmanville, Ontario. This is as much information as I have so far been able to trace.

I do not know if these HAWKEYs stayed in Canada or moved on to the United States or elsewhere.

I would be very interetsed to hear from anyone with information about this HAWKEY family. I have extensive BURTON family research to which I would like to add this line.

Greg Burton
Kingston, Ontario, Canada

IL.
Her mother, Mary Jane Walton Joy, was buried
in the Belvidere Cemetery, in 1923, and William T. Hawkey was buried there in 1924.
This is the last I have regarding
Addie Hawkey. I am hoping someone can direct me to more information, as it seems she is not buried with
William Hawkey. Maybe she remarried. ??? She had a sister,
Mina De Stefano, from Chicago. He loved his Lord so very much and always had faith. He will be missed by all. His remains will be placed in a private location that he loved and shared with his wife. A private memorial will be held at a later date."When I must leave you for a little while-please do not grieve and shed wild tears and hug your sorrow to you through the years, but start out bravely with a gallant smile; and for my sake and in my name live on and do all things the same, feed not your loneliness of empty days, but fill each working hour in useful ways. Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer and I in turn will comfort you and hold you near; and never, never be afraid to die, for I am waiting for you in the sky.
