Seeking information clarifying a relationship between Thomas Hawley, Abner Hawley Jr., and William Hawley of Victor, Ontario Co. NY.

William Hawley was my 3rd great-grandfather, husband of Mercy Sprague. He died young, circa 1805, after the birth of his first (and only) child Asenath in about 1804. Mercy then remarried in 1806 in Ontario County NY.

There was some kind of relationship between Willliam Hawley, a Thomas Hawley and Abner Hawley Jr. because by 1825 Asenath's husband Thomas S. Hogshier (Hogshire) was the mortgagee for property that Thomas Hawley had deeded to Abner Hawley Jr. in 1796 in the town of Victor.

While I've found ample information on Abner (some indicating he had a brother named Thomas), there is nothing on William. How was he related to Abner and Thomas?

Any information, speculation, clues etc. would be most appreciated!
