What do you have on General Alexander Hays of Ft Hays Kansas? General Alexander Hays from Pittsburgh was killed in action during the Civil War. They named Ft Hays in Kansas after General Alexander Hays. I have a second part to this but I thought I would start with the obvious.

CAR CRASHES KILL 2 EAST SIDE MEN IN 35 MINUTES

Two East Side residents were fatally injured in separate one-car accidents within 35 minutes, Illinois State Police reported Sunday.

The victims were Eugene HEMMER, 25, of 510 Catawba ave., Belleville, and Earl HAYES, 46, of 3148 Jill ave., Granite City.

Police said Mr. Hemmer's car left Illinois Route 158, about three miles west of Millstadt, about 8:05 p.m. Saturday. His car travled more than 300 feet before hitting a concrete culvert. Mr. Hemmer was thrown more than 100 feet from the car.

Mr. Hays was driving west of Illinois Route 16, a quarter mile east of Hardin in Greene County, when his car went through a highway construction barricade at 8:40 p.m., police said. This car crashed into the rear of a crane at the construction site.

1. Moses b abt 1735 in Hartford Co MD marr Sophia Wood abt 1761 in Augusta Co Va. Need parents & siblings for Moses. Sophia was the dau of Isaac Wood & Elizabeth Willborn also of Hartford Co MD. Have 6 children for Moses & Sophia.
2. William b abt 1820 in Essex Co Va marr Edmonia Dunn. Need their parents & siblings. Their dau Nancy E. b abt 1845 marr Ruffin Clarke 10 Oct 1863. He was the son of John Henry Clarke Sr. & Julia Dunn. Also need children for Ruffin & Nancy.

Andy Hays married to Rachel Johnson was my G-Grandfather's younger brother. Andrew ( Andy ) is buried about 7 miles from my house near his father John W. Hays.

Hello everyone.

Since i am at a brick wall in my line, ive decided to become ambitious. May take me many years, but it will be fun :) Esp since i like mysteries :)

If you have any Hays/Hayes Family in the 1860 Kansas Territory please contact me by email.

I have pulled every Hays/Hayes family from the census
(40 hours work) and have made a file on each of them

I believe that most of these hays are related except for a very few.
Most seems to follow a trail from PA to VA to KY,IN,Iowa,Mo, and Kansas

Inez Mae Hays
Inez Mae Hays, daughter of Edward and Blanche Shoemaker Clark, was born Nov. 25, 1916, in Ringgold County and died March 5, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. She was 85.
She grew up in Ringgold County and attended country school. She was a housewife and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Kellerton.
She lived in Tennessee for four years before she moved to Osceola 18 years ago.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Sears Hays, a brother, Roy and five sisters, Dorothy, Alda, Goldie, Della and Jen.
Mrs. Hays is survived by two sons, Dellitt Thompson and his wife, Norma Thompson, of Troy, Tenn. and Ed thompson and his wife, Anna Thompson, of Creston; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Mary Banner of Mount Ayr and Lucy Clarke of Des Moines; other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were March 8 at Maple Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were by Kale Funeral Homes-Osceola and Truro.

remember G he was raised some place in Kentucky and his or his fathers' original name was mcdonald. Which ever one it was parents died and the hays family took him in and raised him as on of thiers. When he got married he legally changed his name to hays. There were other family in Payton city West Virginia too. The one that always called us cat birds.

I too am looking for a Hays from this area. I have been able to trace Jacob Hays (born SC 2 Apr 1818). Have found a William Hays, Laurens SC born 1779, married to Bethena Heaton, son Solomon, and married next to Mary Walters (Watters). Hope this helps. thanks, teresa hayes in eastanollee georgia

Help.
Looking for a Annie HAYS BICKNELL from Jackson Co.KY.
Probably born between 1850 and 1870 or so. Had some BICKNELL children (boys?).
Family lore says she married a Wade LIVESAY from Rockcastle Co. about 1900 or 1901. Had a son Willis ca 1901 and then supposedly died during pregnancy/childbirth ca 1903. Grave or other death info has not been found.
Some are working on the LIVESAY family and would like to identify the family and previous marriage of Annie.

My grandfather always told me that the Hayes' changed to Hays to distance themselves from president Hays. Im pretty sure this is BS too, but its fun. My theory is that the Hays' just wanted a last name that everyone would spell incorrectly.

John W. Hays, b.1860, is my great grandfather. His parents are Stephen W. Hays and Judith Waite.

I went to Canada and acquired hand written copies of the will of Stephen's father, John (again),"being of sound mind, and ill of health." Interesting stuff.

I am researching my great grandfather John O. Hays. He was born about 1887 in Oregon. He married Leatha Opal Elder (1897 - 1987) on 19 June 1913 in Oregon. They had four children together. Alvin Hays (1914 - 2004), Nadine L. Hays (1915 - 1984), Living Hays (1917 - ), and Annabelle Hays (1919). He divorced Leatha Opal Elder around 1920 then he disappeared. The children went to an orphanage after the divorce. I am trying to find any information about him that I can find.

I believe Samuel Hays' daughter was named Mary V. Hays, not Margaret. Mary apparently never married as she continued to live with Charles' widow after his death.
