records since he was enrolled under th name of William E. Headley.
When Mary Eva found his gravesite, she sent for th records listed
under th Battery designated on the tombstone. His tombstone reads: W.
Edmund Headley. After finding his service records, we were able to
discover from them that he had left Iowa in 1875 for Kansas, where he
remained until 1905. Then he went to Oklahoma, staying only until
1906, when he vertured out to Oregon. He was in Wasco Co., Oregon in
June of 1907, when he made application for a service pension.
It is assumed that W. Edmund Headley went to Ks and Ok alaong with
other members of the Headley fm. Lewis Cass Headley, his brother,
along with his parents, followed this same path at approximately the
same dates; and Lewis's obituary states that a brother was also with
them in their migration.
