CHAFFIN connections

The following CHAFFINs are buried at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery at or near Thornton in Calhoun Co. Arkansas. I do not know if they are related to the Alatha Chaffin who married Stephen Zellars Hearnsberger in 1824 in Lincoln Co. GA. I do know, however, that the mother of James W. Lindsey and Mary Anna Lindsey (who married siblings Gillie G. Hearnsberger and John DeKalb Hearnsberger) was Eugenia Wise Lindsey (1857-1902). Eugenia's brother Charles Isaiah Wise (1851-1929) and his wife Louella Jane Anderson Wise are buried at Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Calhoun Co. AR at or near Thornton. Parents of Gillie G. Hearnsberger Lindsey and John DeKalb Hearnsberger were John Morgan Hearnsberger and Jane King McClain. John Morgan Hearnsberger was a son of Stephen Zellars Hearnsberger and Alatha R. Chaffin. John Morgan Hearnsberger had a brother Stephen Emmett Hearnsberger b 1821 GA who married Sarah Ann Bush Phillips.

N. Antonette Chaffin b January 12, 1855, d September 15, 1881
Thomas M. Chaffin b March 4, 1880, d November 22, 1881

Thomas was born in March 1880. Was Antonette his mother? She died September 1881 and this baby died November 1881. Who was Antonette's husband? Did he remarry? What was Antonette's maiden name? Who were were parents? Who were her husband's parents?

Other surnames at PILGRIM'S REST CEMETERY at or near Thornton in Calhoun Co. Arkansas: CORNWELL, GRESHAM, HARRIS, HENRY, HOLLOWAY, STOVER, STROUD, and WISE.

I don't know if I can answer your question, but I can talk (write) in circles and hope you figure it out before I get dizzy:

Marry Anna Lindsey (1877-1966) was a daughter of James M. Lindsey (1843-1935) and Eugenia Wise (1857-1902). James and Eugenia are buried at Chambersville Cemetery in Calhoun Co. AR. Mary Anna Lindsey (1877-1966) married John DeKalb Hearnsberger (b 1877) in 1907. Mary Anna Lindsey (1877-1966) died at Fordyce in Dallas Co. AR and was buried at Oakland Cemetery.

John DeKalb Hearnsberger (b 1877) had a sister Gillie G. Hearnsberger who married Mary Anna's brother James W. Lindsey in 1903 in Calhoun Co. AR. Parents of John DeKalb Hearnsberger and Gillie G. Hearnsberger Lindsey were John Morgan Hearnsberger and Jane King McClain (1844-1917). John Morgan Hearnsberger was a son of Stephen Zellars Hearnsberger and Alatha R. Chaffin. John Morgan Hearnsberger had a brother Stephen Emmett Hearnsberger b 1821 who married Sarah Ann Bush Phillips. Stephen Emmett Hearnsberger had a son William Emmett Hearnsberger who married Alice Lubunia Turner in 1912 in Calhoun Co. AR.

When was W. R. Hearnsberger in James, Texas? According to Mr. Rootsweb, there is a town/city called "James" both in Shelby Co. TX and in Upshur Co. TX.
Do you have any dates?
He was my great-great uncle. My grandfather is George Henry Hearnsberger, mother is Helen Hearnsberger Crawford of Ore City, Texas. Hearnsbergers from Calhoun Co. Ark.
My grandfather moved back to Chambersville to retire. He use to talk about his uncle "Billy", William Henry in the war of northern aggression. He was a teamster and was captured and returned to service. All he remembered was his having to eat from a sack of dried peas they hid in river sand to keep from being stolen. Now I live here amidst the Yankees of Ohio, in Jackson Township, just out side of Canton.

I do not believe that is birth name, however. My father was James Otis Hearnsberger. I'm interested to know where the people who left messages are from, and if you are any relation to my family.

I am seeking contact with anyone descended from this man. He lived in Lincoln Co. GA in 1860, served as Lieut.Colonel with the 15th GA Infantry, was captured at Gettysburg. Supposedly moved to Arkansas (Calhoun County?)after the Civil War. I need a wartime
image/photo for my next book, "Georgia At Gettysburg".
