Mary Heath born 1786, died in Windsor, NY in 1828, married Zacheus Phillips in about 1805. The had 8 children. Phillips was born in New Marlborough, Berkshire County, MA, in 1786. There were a number of Heath families in Berkshire County in the 1790 Census, including Joseph and Abijah, each of whom seem to have had several daughters.

Can anyone help with Mary's antecedents?

Thank you.

I know it has been a long time since this was posted, but am looking for information about the Heath family which was my maternal grandmother's family name. She was Anibell Heath, d.o.b. 1862, in Logan county, Ohio.(She married William A. Garvin, in 1883 in Logan County, Ohio.) Her father was John A. Heath, d.o.b. 1834 in New York. His wife was Margaret, d.o.b. 1837, Ohio. I don't know her maiden name. Another sister's name was Mary Anise, d.o.b. 1858, Ohio. I believe she married Joseph A. Bain around 1878. I would love to find any other information about this family.

Hi,

Yes, there was a Heath reunion yesterday. I was not able to attend as I live out of state. I have had a hard time finding any photos. I do have a couple of Walter and Pree with Pearl and Evelyn when she was a young girl and 2 or 3 of my grandfather, Edkar, when he was possibly in his 20s. These were the only ones passed down from the family that I have.
What is the best way of sharing information?

Thanks for the response!
Christa

Hi Christa--unfortunately I can't share them online here. I have managed to collect hundreds of old photographs of our Israel Heath extended family and am wanting to find as many as I can. I see your own line of descent is:

Walter Heath 1876
Edker Elmer Heath
Ronnie Joe Heath

I have worked w/ other descendants from the David M Heath line which you're out of who have contributed photographs so have quite a few but none of Walter and Pree or their children. What can you or your family contribute as a trade in old photographs? If you're interested in all 9 children of Israel, I have photos collected in all 9 lines and have them indexed to assist others. Looking of course for the oldest since they tend to get thrown out when someone dies and no one remembers who it is anymore. I'm working hard to get them in one place at least. Can work offline. Didn't your group just have a get together?

On the 1860 census in North of Hunting Creek, Iredel, Greene Co, I find this family:

Name Age
John Heath 85
Thos Heath 34
Nancy Heath 32
John Heath 3 ------
Sarah J Heath 1
Mary F Campbell 32
Sarah L Campbell 5.12

and a second family in Hughes, Greene co.
Name Age
J R Heath 35
Penelope Heath 37
Nancy L Heath 13
James A Heath 10
John Heath 8
Ava C Heath 6
Amos Heath 3

and a 3rd family in Jefferson, Guilford Co, NC in 1870

Smith Heath 52
Rebecca Heath 44
John Heath 15
James Heath 8
Lucy Thompson 60

I guess the trick is to find out when these counties became independent of the original county, was Greene Co once a part of Guilford Co?

Sorry I don't have much more to go on, I usually work my way backward in the censuses and then hopefully use those names to search for a biography in the area. I wish you luck, I know how frustrating it can be. I have a couple of these brick walls myself.
Lois

(m) Feb 1896
Robbie Apr 1898

all born PA.

There are fragments of this family in the IGI..

It looks like Richard Heath m. Louise Carpenter.

1870 Barclay, Bradford:
Louisa Carpenter age 6, living with Mary Schoonover family.

In the 1880 Monroe, Bradford, Louisa is 17; still living with the widow Mary Schoonover. It says her father was born in Germany, so perhaps her name isn't Carpenter but more like Zimmerman?

Richard Heath is kind of a mystery - he doesn't seem to appear anywhere before 1900, that I can see.

Hi Mastlouis,
I'm trying to prove my Rebecca Heath b. 1790 VA (m. George Whitman 1810 Pickaway Co., OH) is the daughter of Asahel Heath of Augusta Co., VA. His wife was Eunice possibly Stauton her maiden name. Asahel d. abt. 1818 in Pickaway Co., OH. I cannot locate his grave. I haven't been able to find out his DOB. George and Rebecca moved to Boonville, Warrick Co., IN abt. 1830. Both buried there. Rebecca and George Whitman are my line. George's father was Matthew Whitman b. VA 1760 apparently he and Asahel were very good friends. They were mentioned together many times in VA records. We have many Asahel's in my family tree. Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Happy to share all info.

Some of your material may link with mine. My family married into the Simpsons and I am familiar with the area and times. Thomas Heath and Sarah Simpson were also married in Whitmore Church but in 1663. However, I can't find a direct link so far although we lived in the area. I don't know where you live but if you have a male Heath who would offer a DNA sample we can see if there is a link. I might be prepared to pay for this.

I can't find any John Heath who was born in Staffordshire in 1692. I think you are thinking of John Heath who was born in and Christened in December 1692 in Fritton Silsoe, Bedfordshire. He seems to have married an Ethal Prior (b.~1696) at Milton Bryant, Bedforshire. He died in Hancock Creek, Craven, N.C. in 1769. His father was Edmond Heath (b.18th March 1661, d. probably in 1721 in Upper Gravenhurst, Bedfordshire. Edmund married Mary Foster on the 26th January 1686. She was born in about 1665 in Fritton Silsoe, Bedfordshire. Edmonds father was also Edmond.

I have DNA for this Heath clan but it is only available to Heath males who also contribute a sample for DNA analysis.

Sorry I can't send you the trees as they are on paper and some were not constructed by me. If you are prepared to send me the names of your oldest ancestors and any relevant dates I will see if I have anything that fits.

I am the volunteer administrator for the Heath Surname DNA project for www.familytreedna.com. There are over 70 male Y chromosome donors. The data have helped identify at least 8 clans of Heaths with their unique DNA's. For other donors we have yet to find a match or a Heath family to which they belong. If you are interested in the DNA project you could find a male Heath donor from your family

Asahel Heath's parents are Jonathan and Rachel whose last name I am not sure of as yet. I have Jonathan's will listing his son Asahel. Jonathan's parents are William Heath and Ann Wilson of Somerset Co., MD. William's parents are Abraham Heath and Ursula Shipway of Manokin, Somerset Co., MD. Abraham's parents are William M. Heath and Amy Gale of Surry England and moving to Virginia in the late 1600's. Let me know if you want more information or documentation.

I am still trying to find parents of Martin Luther Heath, born 28 Dec. 1819 in Jasper County, Ga.He married Eveline Thornton and they had eight children. All their children had initials A.A. Heath,so I have thought that might be a family thing. On the 1880 census he said his parents were both born in N.C., but don't know what county to start looking in.

Hi Lois, It is quite possible that my William Heath (born around 1700) would have had a brother named John given the distinct naming patterns through the years but unfortunately I do not have any sibling or parentage details for this generation. To date I am not aware of the emigration of any of my early Heath ancestors. As far as I am aware my direct line originated in Audley, Staffordshire, which is close to the border with Cheshire, and then moved into the 'five towns' in later years.

Maria

Debra,
New to this site. Having a great time uncovering things with my Mom, Sally VanDyke Heath Ellis. Her daddy was Forrest Gage Heath, son of James Alonzo Heath. All were born and raised in North Carolina, which I discovered last night was founded by Sir Robert Heath, Attorney General to King Charles I. My Aunt Caroline Heath Davis has long been the family geneologist (lives in NC still) and I don't think she ever made the link that far back. Thru her research, I have a photo of a grave marker for "John Heath Taken from County Jail 8 LYNCHED by Bisbee Mob Feb 22 1884". Do you know anything about this?! I also have a photo of Thomas B Heath in his civil war uniform holding a pistol and a knife. Said he captured in Kellys Ford, VA 11/18/1863, released on oath. Do you have any revolutionary war info?

Ermant is actually Earnest, I took a trip to the cemetary in Powell, where they where born and found the Heath stone missing, replaced by a white plackard, but William and Earnest both had their headstones, actually markers. I do believe most of them are burried there though...although I may not be back there for a while its very horror movie ish...you have to drive up through the corn feilds. Anyway sorry I am rambeling, and thank you for your help
