I recently acquired a box of newspaper clippings, that included the following undated clipping from the Cumberland, Maryland, "Times-News"
"George A. Heavner - George Albert Heavner, 85, formerly of 209 1/2 Carroll Street, died yesterday at Sacred Heart Hospital where he was admitted Monday. He had been in failing health for two years.
A native of Moorefield, he was a son of the late Jesse C. and Mary (Pope) Heavner, and was a retired farmer. His wife, Bessie (Franklin) Heavner, died in 1960.
Surviving are three sons, J. Brooke Heavner, McMullen Highway; John C. Heavner, Hinkle Road; and Robert P. Heavner, city; four daughters, Mrs. Roy Shyrock, Pine Creek; Mrs. Charles Iliff, Cresaptown; Mrs. Elmer Heckart, Romney, and Mrs. John Twigg, Mt. Pleasant Road; 34 grandchildren and 43 great grand-children.
The body is at the Hafer Funeral Home where friends will be received from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted there Sunday at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. Cecil L. Taylor, Union Rescue Mission. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park."
