Steve: I have an envelope in my possession and have no idea WHY. It's postmarked Sept. 17, 1094 from William Lawrence Estate, Bellefontaine, Ohio, and it's addressed to our gr-grandfather, Charles Butterfield of Overbrook, Kansas. There is nothing in the envelope. It was just in some Charles' papers. So, does the name Charles Butterfield mean anything to you. We have NO idea what it was about. Loretta

Looking for information on the children of Lester Heavner and Dorothy Thurmond Hamrick. Lester was the son of Adam Lewis Heavner and Diana Eva Dodrill. Dorothy was the daughter of Henry David Hamrick and Diana Hamrick. They were married in 1932 in Webster Co., W. Va. Their children include Bettie Marie, James Ray, Robert Hurley, Roland Coffer, Rosalie, Ruby Lou and Ralph Roosevelt Heavner. Would like to know who they married and any children. I recently acquired a box of newspaper clippings, that included the following undated clipping from the Cumberland, Maryland, "Times-News"

"George A. Heavner - George Albert Heavner, 85, formerly of 209 1/2 Carroll Street, died yesterday at Sacred Heart Hospital where he was admitted Monday. He had been in failing health for two years.
A native of Moorefield, he was a son of the late Jesse C. and Mary (Pope) Heavner, and was a retired farmer. His wife, Bessie (Franklin) Heavner, died in 1960.
Surviving are three sons, J. Brooke Heavner, McMullen Highway; John C. Heavner, Hinkle Road; and Robert P. Heavner, city; four daughters, Mrs. Roy Shyrock, Pine Creek; Mrs. Charles Iliff, Cresaptown; Mrs. Elmer Heckart, Romney, and Mrs. John Twigg, Mt. Pleasant Road; 34 grandchildren and 43 great grand-children.
The body is at the Hafer Funeral Home where friends will be received from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted there Sunday at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. Cecil L. Taylor, Union Rescue Mission. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park."

He operated a service station on Mechanic Street here.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Oleta (Shaw) Heavner; three daughters, Mrs. Foster George, Pinto, and Misses Virginia Lee and Patricia Ann Heavner, both of Washington; one son, Milton Eston Heavner, of here; three grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Elmer Ehrhart, Hampstead, Md.,; Mrs. James Poole, North Rose, N.Y.; Mrs. Herbert Trail, and Mrs. Homer Hout, Flintstone, and Mrs. Joseph Crabtree, city; and two brothers, Justin Heavner, Flintstone, and Carl Heavner, Hagerstown.

do you have any info on Ida Lela Bell Heavner, father Philip Heavner, married to Matthew Lee Whitworth. Ida born 22 feb 1884, d:29 Aug 1947, buried Cherryville City Cemetery, Gaston County. Children: Eugene Phillip, born 10 aug 1910, and Dollie Mae, and Ann Bell. Husband Matthew died 1915 and Ida then returned to father's home. Any info would be appreciated.

Charles William Heavner Sr.

STARKE-Charles William "Bill" Heavner Sr., 72, of Starke died Wednesday,
July 30, 2003, at Orange Park Medical Cetner following an extended illness.

Born in Lincolnton, N.C., Mr. Heavner served in the U.S. Army during the Korean
War and owned and operated the Pep-O Station and Heavner Oil Company. He
was a member of the Masonic Lodge F&AM, the Morocco Temple of Jacksonville
and First United Methodist Church of Starke.

Mr. Heavner is survived by: his wife Rhonda Faye Heavner of Starke; his mother
Ruth H. Heavner of Lincolnton; two daughters, Lesley H. Wilson of Charlotte,
N.C. and La Donna Clark of Kaw City, Okla.; a son Charles Heavner Jr. of Julia,
N.C.; two step-daughters, Annette Popperwill of New Bern, N.C. and Charlene
Anders of Starke; a step-son Charlie Irland of New Bern; two brothers, Joe R.
Heavner of Charlotte and Fred F. Heavner of Rocky Mountain, N.C.; and eight
grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Heavner were Aug. 4, 2003 at Sampson City Church of
God with the Rev. Jimmy Dobbs officiating with burial in Crosby Lake Cemetery.
Archie Tanner Funeral Home of Starke was in charge of arrangements.

Note: I am of no relation, but my sympathies go out to those of you who are.
This is here as a lasting memorial for Mr. Heavner.

in brooks mills,blair co., pa. edwin dale died 28 feb 1963 in lewiston, juanita co.,pa and was buried in hillcrest park, allegany co.md.

Greetings from Canada. Amongst my Grandfathers collections of pictures
(Old!!!pictures) is one of a Mr. Mrs. James Heavner and little Grace.
This picture was taken in 1888 in Washinton Territory. Mr. Heavner was
33 years old, Mrs. Heavner was 18 and Grace the baby was 4 months old.
Writing on the bottom of the picture would indicate that Mr. Heavners initials
were J.R. or J.K and Mrs. Heavner's were S.V. or E.V. The writing is very
fancy with many flourishes on the letters which makes accuracy a bit difficult.
I have no idea who this family is, but apparently they have some ties through marriage
to my Grandfather's family who were Dunn's.
If any of this information rings a bell, please contact me.
