Emanuel Heche Jr. purchased the brick store which still stands today in Vera Cruz from the George and Jess Weist in 1901. He also was the post master at the location and ran a huckster business. After ther death of Emanuel Heche in 1908, his daughter Alta ( Pearl) Heche Henneford became the post mistress. Her mother, Martha ran the store; brother,Harry was a clerk there.
Pearl Heche married on April 15, 1911 to Martin Henneford. Martin and Pearl had two children a son, Donald and a daughter, Marjorie.
Martin raised hogs and also had a dairy farm He had an 80 acre farm near Vera Cruz, Indiana. Pearl was the post mistress until 1926; after her mother, Martha’s death. The store was then sold to Albert Steiner.
Rosanna Bibberstein was the sister to my great great grandfather Ferdinand Biberstein.
Thank you for your reply. I have done some research on this family, but would like to check the Swiss records in greater detail. I may have some errors, and did some errors, but this is the family that I have so far:
Isaac Heche married Catherine Marchand in Canton Berne, Switzerland. They had sons:
Charles Heche, who married Susanne Henriette Visard in 1820. in Switzerland.
Isaac Heche, b. 13 Nov 1793, Switzerland, d. 20 Jan 1880 in Harrison Twp, Wells Co, IN; he married 19 Nov 1825 in Moutier, Switzerland, to Marie-Anne Schaffter (these are my g-g-grandparents).
Emanuel M. Heche, b. 12 July 1812, Canton Berne, Switzerland, d. 15 Sept 1889, burial St. Johns Cemetery, Vera Cruz, IN; married in Switzerland, Elizabeth Simons.
David Heche, m. 1826 to Marie Anne Julliard.

Do you know where the family of Emanuel Heche lived in Indiana? The obituary of son, Emanuel, says that they emigrated in 1871 and settled 2 miles south east of Vera Cruz, IN. My late uncle had located the former Isaac Heche farm, which was on the banks of the Wabash River near Vera Cruz, but I do not know the exact location.
Isaac Heche had 5 children: Marianne Elise, 1827- 1859, unmarried; Cecile Sophie, 1830- 1910, unmarried, lived in Fort Wayne, IN; Eugene, 1832- 1910; Ferdinand, 1835-about 1930, married to Caroline Geissel, his family moved to California; Rosine, 1842- 1932, married Louis August Amiet in 1869, and they lived in Wayne Co, OH
(my g-grandparents).
I would love to share more information with you. My e-mail:
jwengerd@valkyrie.net

My Stepgrandfather was Harold L. Heche. He married my Grandmother,Rosella Stahl Stout. He had several brothers. Joseph, Harry and others.I don't know their names. He was as close to me as any blood relation. He was an alcoholic but chose to stop when he was about 45 and then went on to make a very good living as a house painter. He had a crew of painters. This was before siding was invented. He had a home in Fort Wayne that my Grandmother bought but they bought property on Lake Webster and built a home there and also bought much property. He and my grm built several homes on the lake and rented them. Joseph had a son who was named Donald. He died of a heart problem when he was in his 40's. Harry, who was known as Liz, had a son named Harry Jr. If you want to know anything else, please let me know. I just know that when my Gp died, there were a lot of people there that I had no knowledge of their being his relation. They were his brothers. GP was very short, maybe 63", but he was a dynamo. I loved him

Was Pascific the son of David L. Schaffter and Marianne Elise Schaffter?
I have a record of Marianne Elise Schaffter, b. 18 Mar 1827 in Moutier Grandval, Switzerland, who m. David Louis Schaffter on 27 Jan 1848, Switz. They had a son named Pascific. Sounds like it may be the same family.
Thanks so much for your reply information. I had visited Wells Co. last summer and did a little research, looked at some of the cemeteries, the library, etc. I found that there were 2 Heche families coming from Switzerland, Isaac Heche in 1844 and Emanuel Heche in 1871. There was also a brother, Charles, but i do not know if he came to the U.S. The families of both Isaac and Emanuel lived in the Vera Cruz area, and I am sure they were related, but have not yet determined how; I am thinking possibly they were brothers. It is interesting that one or two of Emanuel's sons were carpenters in Vera Cruz. I think your relative is likely a descendant of the family of Emanuel.
Joy
