My great-grandfather was Robert Heckle born 1847 near Mobile Alabama, but from abt 1840 grew up in Texas.He became know as "Texas" Bob Heckle.The 1900 census lists his father as being born in New York and his mother in PA. My grandmother told me Bob's father was a Professor and his mother a school teacher. The 1860,1870,and 1880 census also states his mother was a teacher and her name was Eliza M. I don't know her maiden name, and I suspect his fathers name was David, by the naming trend of his and my great-grandmother Anna Helm, twelve children. Bob's father died about 1856 in Texas. This is all the information I have and any help would be appreciated.
