I am descended from Heckendorns of Berks and later Perry counties in PA. I think the Adam Heckendorn to which you refer may have been a brother to my descendent, Mary Magdalene Heckendorn, who was a daughter of Christian Heckendorn and Veronica (Deppen) Heckendorn, both buried in Spring Township, Perry County.
Although your Heckendorn information is not in my direct line, I find it interesting as I am always searching for tidbits regarding family connections.
