The only specific additional information I have on this person is that he had a son, Solomon, born 1801 in Preston County, West Virginia, d. 1876 in Ogden Township, Michigan.

Solomon married Maria Nines and had a son, also John Peter Heckert, who was born February 28, 1828 and who died May 28, 1900. This second John Peter married Martha Ellen Porter (b. August 07, 1837) on December 30, 1856 in West Virginia. They had three children that I know of: Mary, Albert, and Hannah. From there I have a fair amoutn of information. I was trying to take it back from the first John Peter.

Linda,

I don't know, I don't have information on his parentage.

Actually, I have two John Peter Heckerts, in this order from oldest to youngest:

John Peter Heckert, b. 1760 in Preston County, West Virginia, d. 1845 in West Virginia. This JPH had a son, Solomon, b. 1801, d. 1876.

Solomon married Maria Nines. They had a son, John Peter Heckert, b. February 28, 1828, d. May 28, 1900.

On December 30, 1856, this second John Peter Heckert married Martha Ellen Porter, b. August 7, 1837.

John and Martha had three children: Mary E., Albert W., and Hannah Virginia Heckert.

Does this give you enough information to provide me with more information? What I am looking for is more on the first John Peter Heckert.

I greatly appreciate anything you can share. Thanks!

Marina

I have on loan a small booklet titled "Heckert-Betz Family Record, July 1940," by Arlene Knapp Van Loocke. It covers the descendants of Sarah Betz, b. Oct. 7, 1861, and Albert W. Heckert, b. Nov. 22. 1859.

It also includes information on Sarah and Albert's parents and grandparents.

I am currently entering the information into a new Family Tree Maker file, and am willing to share a GEDCOM of the data when I have completed it. (There are perhaps 300 individuals in the booklet, and I also am researching more on some of the current family members.)

If anyone else is interested in this information, please send me email and I will keep track of who you are and will send you the GEDCOM when it is complete.

Also, if anyone has any pointers on the Betz or Heckert line, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
