A Hickman/Heckman surname reconstruction project has recently been started in conjunction with Familytreedna.com. The intent of this project is to reconstruct Hickman/Heckman family connections using male Y dna. This is a relatively new application for established genetic science. All testing is done by the genetics faculty at the Univeristy of Arizona. There are already five members and we hope to enlist the participation of as many different Hickman subsets as possible. Male Hickmans/Heckmans of both German and English descent are encouraged to participate. It is hoped that this project will provide another tool for Hickman/Heckman researchers to supplement traditional paper research.
