Ignatius HECKMANN (1849-1906) married Margaret O'MALLEY (1852-1936) in St. John's Catholic church in Fairbury, Livingston County, Illinois, on 24 June 1873.

Ignatius had lived in Vincennes, Knox County, Indiana some time prior to his settling in Fairbury. Margaret had attended St. Mary of the Woods boarding school (now a college) near Terre Haute, Indiana, before moving to Fairbury.

Does anyone know of a HECKMANN who may have attended school at St. Mary of the Woods?
Also wish to find out what church the HECKMANN family attended in Vincennes.

John Heckman - born 5/30/1869 in New Hamburg, Ontario, Canada - died 9/28/1930 in Pewamo, Michigan (Ionia or Clinton Counties) He and his family migrated to Texas from Sebawaring, Michigan (Huron County) in the 1890's and returned to Cheseaning, Michigan (Saginaw County) in the late 1890's.

A Hickman/Heckman surname reconstruction project has recently been started in conjunction with Familytreedna.com. The intent of this project is to reconstruct Hickman/Heckman family connections using male Y dna. This is a relatively new application for established genetic science. All testing is done by the genetics faculty at the Univeristy of Arizona. There are already five members and we hope to enlist the participation of as many different Hickman subsets as possible. Male Hickmans/Heckmans of both German and English descent are encouraged to participate. It is hoped that this project will provide another tool for Hickman/Heckman researchers to supplement traditional paper research. I search for Heckmann family in Oberbayern (Upper Bavaria), somewhere around Munchen, but I don't know the name of the village. Boldizsar Heckmann emigrated to Hungary, to Budafok (today Budapest), in the second part of the XIXth century.

Hello,

I am searching for information on my great-great grandparents. The maiden name of my g-g-grandmother is possibly Saur/sauer/Sower, based on my grandfathers memory. Her first name may have been Elizabeth (not sure). She would have married Henry Heckman(n) and had at least 3 children, Elizabeth, Henry, and John(my g-grandfather, born about 1884 near/in Philadelphia). My grandfather believes that the Saur/Sauer/Sower family had artistic ability and may have worked on Cathedrals? or other buildings in Germany. He also believes that Henry Heckman(n) may have been in the Prussian Guard?? before coming to the US. I am interested in any information on any of these people.

My great-great grandmother was Helene Heckman, married to Leo Delaune about 1891 in Southern La. She died in New Orleans, La in 1923. On one certificate we found, they gave her the French spelling of Aline, and changed the last name to Hickmann. Any one with any info on siblings, or ancestry? She was supposed to have come over from Germany and migrated down from the North.

For any interested parties, my girlfriend is from Heckmann decent. She has a book written by Dorothy Heckmann Shrader, titled Steamboat Legacy. The book talks about the life and geneaology of William Lewis Heckmann 2/27/1845-4/24/1907.

Could be a good starting place to find family.

I found an wedding announcement from Mrs. Katherine Heckmann of Chicago, IL for her daughter's wedding- Mary Heckmann to Mr. Edward C. Wollenberg on Nov., 25, 1903.Do not know anything else on Heckmann lady, know Edward died April 1921 at Rochester, MN.
