I believe I have a photo of Warren S. Hecox as well as many of his sister, Martha J. Hecox Ellis (both in their older years). Maybe you can confirm what I have sorted out about this family from the censuses and clues on the backs of many snapshots that belonged to my grandmother. I acquired a box of photos long after anyone who could identify them was gone, but this batch is of people who are not related to me at all, but seem to have been friends of my family in Battle Creek in the early 1900s.
Warren and Martha were the children of Josephine Corwin Hecox; Josephine's sister, Ruth, married Daniel W. Ellis and they lived in Assyria, Barry Co, MI. Daniel and Ruth's son, Myron Henry Ellis married Martha J. Hecox (first cousins). He d. 1898 in Assyria. Martha is with daughters, Flora and Bessie in 1900 in Battle Creek; then with Bessie and husband Oral Rusco in 1910 B.C. and 1920 San Bernardino, CA. I have a lot of snapshots I believe to be of them in that time frame. As far as I can tell, Oral and Bessie did not have children. Oral seems to have died before 1930 and Bessie came back to Calhoun Co, MI. Martha J. seems to have returned to MI too--she's listed at Ellis Cemetery, Assyria Twp, Barry Co, MI, no dates.
Last thing, there are many photos of "Aunt Sophia", according to the handwriting I believe to be of Bessie Ellis Rusco. These run from when she was old, to very very old. Is this Sophia, sister of Ruth Corwin Ellis and Josephine Corwin Hecox? Does any of this connect with what you know?
