My husband is the 3X great grand son of William Hecox, an older brother of Sylvester who married Rebecca Hugt. William and sylvester were both sons of Truman Hecox, who left CT first for N.Y. where, I believe all of his children (including sylvester) were born. Then Truman and his sons moved to Meigs county Ohio. He is listed in the 1810 census, having three sons and two daughters. One of these is probably Sylvester.truman is again in the 1820 census. In the 1830 census for Meigs county, Ohio a sylvester Hecox is listed, having a boy under 5 and another boy under 15. He also has three girls, one under 5 and two under 10. Truman died in Meigs county, Ohio. William and his family left Ohio and went to Quincy, Illinois. In the Hancock county, Illinois records there is frequent mention of a Sylvester. In one record he is listed as a Justice of the Peace. Try looking in these counties for more information.
