the obit for my g-g-grandmother, Lucetta Hecox Lansdon,shows that she was born Feb. 16, 1825 in Meggs county, Ohio. Her father is shown as Rev. Sylvester Hecox, Baptist minister. She died July 18, 1906 in La Grande, OR.
The other messages on this board re Sylvester hecox do not mention Lucetta. Lucetta married James Lansdon in IL.
Did I find the right Hecox family? I have a fair amount of info re the Lansdon family if you are interested.

I am looking for the parents of Densy Hersy who married William Hecox b. 1818 in Detroit Wayne County, MI. William was the son of Adna Hecox and Polly Andress. Densy and William married in Sumpter Wayne County, MI in 1841 at the home of Horatio and Lavina Gates. Horatio and Reuben Merell were witnesses.

My great great grandfather's name was James Hecox. He was born in New York about 1829. He migrated to Ohio where he purchased land at the age of 17 from a Daniel Splitler. He married Hannah Chamberlain in 3/4/1851 in Lima, Ohio. I believe her parents were Noah and Juliana Chamberlain. Apparently, Noah died and Juliana remarried a William Brooks in Ohio. He was considerly older than Juliana and I think they were separated. The 1850 census in Ohio shows James Hecox as part of the Benjamin Hall's family. James Hecox and Hannah moved to Iowa in about 1856. James died in Marion, Iowa in 1900 and Hannah died in 1896 in Central City, Iowa. James bought a farm in Paris, Iowa which is Linn County and Jackson township. They had twins in Lima, Ohio before they moved: Julia and Ransom. They then had Lucinda, Sanford, and Sarah who died of typhoid in 1871. Their remaining children were William, Henry, and Lemuel. Lemuel was murdered in Colorado. Does any of this family sound familiar? In the census, Hecox is spelled Heacox, Hecock, Hickock, ect. Could be under any spelling. Would love to trade information! I am trying to find who James's parents were, who Jame's sisters and brothers were if any. Where did he come from. I have hear that he was an orphan in New York. He had to have a reason for coming to Ohio. He also owned land very young.

I am looking for parants of John W. and Henry H. Hecox who moved first to Louisana, then on to Ark. Henry became a Deputy Marshall in Hot Springs, and John W. lived in Little Rock. John served in the CSA as Pvt Co A 6th La. Cav. He was m. to Catherine Bell. After John died, Kate moved to Texas carrying her children with he. There was a son Valentine b1874 in La, Warren H, 1878, John Wesley, b 1880, Pearl b. 1884. Where is John buried? How were John and Henry related? Would appreciate any information.

Horace & Elizabeth from Lockport, Niagra, New
York around 1860. Moved to Wisconsin, raised family.
He died from wounds received in war, she moved to
Spokane, Washington, her daughter Etta lived with
her there. Etta married Harris Winkler and moved to Montana, one son Guy Stanley was my father.
There were many Hecox's in Washington around 1950.
Ray, Myrtle, Sister Mary Raymond & Ella were some.

Searching for additional information on Truman HECOX, Sr.
married Sallie HOSFORD and Truman HECOX (? Jr.) married
Martha R. QUINBY in 1822.

Truman and Martha said to have had five children, two
still living in about 1880. Settled in Hancock Co., IL
in about 1836.

Also found in early Hancock Co., IL - Bradley HECOX,
one of the early settler's of St. Alban's and either
he or a son was named the Twp. Supervisor in 1873.

I am looking for any info. on the family of Henry & Geneva (Shanks) Hecox. From family photo's, I know they had atleast 2 children. One of their children, a son, Newton J. (Jasper) Hecox is buried with them in the Wenas Cemetery - Selah, Yakima Co., Washington. Henry Hecox, according to his headstone was born in 1878 & died in 1956. Geneva was born in May of 1886, and died June 20, 1964. Their son Newton was born April 28, 1916 and died March 24, 1989 in Yuma, Arizona. Geneva was my G-Grandmothers first cousin. Her father was Newton Jasper Shanks and her mother was Sirilda Lipscomb. I would like to find Henry & Geneva's decendants. I have alot of Lipscomb info. & photo's to share with them. I'm looking for a great grandfather Hecox. He married Annie Anglin (Anglan?) (b.1861,Mo.). They had 2 boys, then divorced. Annie raised Roy (b.1889, Chicago, Ill.). Mr. Hecox raised the other son, name unknown. Annie remarried Wm. Hamilton, who adopted Roy and changed his name to Roy Hecox Hamilton. They lived in San Francisco, CA.
(The Hecox brother and his wife visited Roy in CA. sometime in the 1940's. I have a picture).
