Carl Gustaf Hedberg was my grand father on my father side. I never knew him except through the stories my father told. The following is his obituary as printed the Stromsburg, Nebraska news paper:
"Carl Gustaf Hedberg was born Aril (april) 30, 1862 in Hebo-vester-fernebo, Westermanland, Sweden, where he also grew up into young manhood. He emigrated to America in 1881, coming to Osage City, Kansas, where he resided for a number of years.
He was united in marriage with Miss Carolina Anderson at Osage City on Dec. 30, 1893. To this union was born one son.
While Mr. Hedberg was not enjoying the very best of health, not even his nearest realized that his end was so near. On Friday morning he was up and about his place as usual, though feeling somewhat ill, and became suddenly ad severely ill, caused by acute indigestion. which went to the heart, and passed away in the afternoon on Oct. 5, 1928 at the age of 66 years, 5 months and 5 days.
Those who remain to mourn his departure are the widow; one son Oscar; one sister, Mrs. Nels Swanson of Osceola; 2 grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends in the First Baptist Church of Stromsburg he is mourned because of the loss of another of its faithful members.
The funeral was held at the First Baptist Church at Stromsburg, Rev. Ellis E. Eklof officiating, and interment was made in the osceola cemetery"
