Re: William Hedding

Read with interest your Hedding message. My branch uses one "d" in the name. My 5xgr. grand, David Heding/Hedding/Hedings/Heddings (Yes, he used all of those spellings and more) was born in Pa. and that is where I meet my "brick walll". The Pa birthplace comes from census reports but he lived his life in western NY. David had 2 wives and 13 children (3 + 10) I have been unable to locate any record in Pa regarding his family. His Eldest son, William Wellington Hedding was born in Little Valley, NY and came to Wis in the early 1850's, settling in Vernon Co. in about 1854. I know, thru family lore, that the family was of German descent and came to the US thru England. Does this match with any of your information? I would love to find more information on my family background. You may e-mail direct at sthomsen@charter.net Thanks, Sandy

William Hedding

Greetings from Indianapolis, IN.

My 5'th gr grandfather, John Hedding, was born on November 13, 1705, in Saint Martin, Birmingham, Warwick, England. His father was William Hedding. John first appreared in the US in Lancaster Co, PA, sometime in the early 1700's, and he married Kathryn Sutton in 1727. Sometime along the way, the spelling was changed to Headings. There are presently many variations of the spelling that live in the UK. So far, I have not been able to find any info on his father William. Any help and/or suggestions as to where I can go from here, will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you ahead of time,

Dennis Buerge
