The primary testing company for the Heffernan DNA Project has announced discounts on selected DNA tests available through August 31, 2008. The project also offers an additional discount. So, now would be a great time for Heffernan (and all variations) males to join the project and get a 37-marker Y-DNA test for a great price. Test results thus far for Heffernan and Heffron males who have joined the project show that they all seem to have an Irish origin (probably southern Ireland for many), although these different Heffernan lines probably arose independently of each other. See the project's results page at http://heffernan.gendna.net/results.htm. We need more males from other Heffernan (and all other variations) lines to join the project and do the testing to find out more about the Heffernan origins and relationships among the various lines and surname variations.
