Dear Simon,

I've a Sinon Finn as well as a Sinon Hassett among my
ancestors. I've been told that the name is that of
Saint Sinon for whom the Shannon River was named. Another
variant is Senan. Both of my Sinons are from West Clare.
I don't believe either of them are related to the name Simon,
however. Best of luck to you.
