My husband is a HEIDE. His family changed the name verbally to Heide during the war as vVON DER HEIDE was too German. My husband's father changed it to HEIDE legally in the late 40's early 50's. His father was Johann VON DER HEIDE. He came from Germany through Ellis Island either with his brother Wilhelm or after Wilhelm had come to the States. I have very little information on family at all. There could also be a Claus and Greta as members, but not aware if they came to the States also or not. Johann was b: may 22, 1879, d:may 5, 1942. He died in New Jersey, but story has it that he lived in Iowa, Indiana, or maybe Illinois for a few years and married Meta PETERSEN.

Effie Kate, Hugh, Jeanette Flora, and Leslie were born in Colorado.

dob: Charles A. born 1880 in PA
Effie Kate born 1888 in Colorado
Hugh Donald born 1890 in Colorado
Leslie W. born 1895 in Colorado
Jeanette Flora born 1898 in Colorado

Effie Kate divorced Arthur Bliss BRADLEY, and later married William John EVANS. However, there seems to be a lot less info on the Heides... unfortunately.

My mother was Eleanor Winona Heide Hatfield. Her parents were Elmer and Leona Kline Heide. Leona died in the late 1940's and Elmer passed approx 1998.

My mother had a sister Geri (Gerry??) Marie Heide Donahue -- and a brother, Robert Heide.

Any information you can email me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
