Fred R. Heilman, b.Jan 1885, son of R.P./Lena, lived Cameron Co., PA

I have an original Cabinet Card photograph of “Fred R. Heilman”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in Emporium (Cameron Co.) PA, and he looks to be about 6 months old, and is wearing what could be a christening gown.

I found Fred R. Heilman, with his parents, living in the 1900 census for Emporium (Cameron Co.), showing his date of birth as Jan 1885. Parents were R. P. Heilman, born OH Dec 1850, and Lena E. Heilman, born PA Apr 1851.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Fred R. Heilman.

NYC Heilmann -- Jacob Peter & Eva Elisabeth

Would love any advise. Have hit a deadend. Trying to get back to Germany. Jacob Peter Heilmann (b.1838), Eva Elisabetha (Kremer) Heilmann (b.1830), and one child Jacob August (b.1863) immigrated from Bavaria (Erlangen is family legend) in 1865 to NYC. I can find no ship manifest for the threesome. They can be found in the 1870 and 1880 NY census and the city directory until 1886. Jacob and Eva vanish, maybe to New Jersey. I have checked NYC and NY State death records. Son, Jacob August marries Agnes Vandermerwede and has 6 children, there history is well known. All records say "Germany" or 'Bavaria". Any one come across this family??

JONAS HEILMAN/HILEMAN Correction

I have noticed on quite a few files some misinformation about my gr gr grandfather JONAS HILEMAN/HEILMAN. Hopefully this post will lead to corrections. Many have JONAS as being married to an ANN with issue as NETTIE, MAUDE, HERMAN & RALPH. This info is not correct. After searching census images I found in 1900 a JACKSON & ADA HILEMAN with issue of Nettie, Maud, Herman & Ralph. JACKSON was the s/o ALEXANADER (s/0 Solomon)
I base my findings for JONAS on Civil War records from NARA. In them you will find:

JONAS was the s/o of DANIEL & SUSANNAH HANKEY HEILMAN, bn. In Armstrong Co., PA 25 Jan. 1847, d. 30 Jul. 1929, Hillard, FL.
Married to REBECCA BEE, bn . abt 1854-24 Dec. 1910
Issue;
BENJAMIN FRANKLIN-21 April 1871
ARIMITA-Sept.16,1873
MARGARET-23 June, 1875
ESTER-9 Oct. 1877
ALICE- 20 Aug. 1880
MARY W.- 3 July 1885-d. 3 July 1885
JOHN-23 March 1887-d. 25 March 1887
JOHN E. 6 Jan 1895

Another marriage to MRS. JENNIE FORD(3rd marriage) . (Through court records JONAS’s 2nd wife was a EMMA KNICKERBOCKER).

In the 1850 census for DANIEL & SUSANNAH there is a child age 4 that looks like JAMES. I believe this to be JONAS. I can find no other record for a JAMES in DANIEL’S family.

I hope this will help other HILEMAN/HEILMAN researchers & correct the current files on the web sites.
Georgia Hileman Halloran
Heilman/Hileman Surname Reconstruction Project

Hi all,
I have initiated the first Hileman/Heilman (and spelling variants) Surname Reconstruction Project through FamilyTreeDNA.com . With a simple pain-free swab from inside the cheek, you can learn what family lines you belong to and which you do not. You can learn who you have a common ancestor with and when. Also learn about your unique family migration pattern and point of family origin.

I have always been extremely involved in trying to find my ancestor, Michael Hileman's father. It is allegedly Christian Hileman. I am optimistic that this project will answer this as well as connect my line to many of your lines.

I encourage you to check out the DNA testing information, all the benefits of this testing, as well as the Hileman Surname Reconstruction Project at http://www.FamilyTreeDNA.com . To go to the Hileman page just type in "Hileman" in the "Search by surname" at the top-right of the page.

The cost is surprisingly cheap for what you get.. $99 for the Y-DNA12" Test. Please participate. Your participation will not only reward you but help all current and future Hileman researchers. This is an exciting adventure and I do hope you will be travelling along with us. Please Contact me if you have any questions.

Hal Hileman

Captain Heilman, 15th U.S. Infantry

I'm researching musicians who were medal of honor winners in the Civil War. One of them is William Carson, who was under the command of Captain Heilman in the 15th. I was wondering if anyone out there knew who Captain Heilman was, even a first name as I can't find any in the regimental histories. Also, if anyone had any letters or diaries or any books written by him that had an account of the battle of Chickamauga, GA where William performed the actions that won him his medal. Men had to be reccomended for the medal, usually by a superior officer, which is why I think that it was Captain Heilman. If anyone has any information, I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks,
Ashley

She had a son with Murray Targee in Chillicothe, OH in 1937. She later married John D. Donaway in the early 1940's (he died in WWII - Battle of the Bulge). I know she later married Don Graves in Columbus and had 2 sons. She married one more time before her death, but I am unsure the name of the husband.

Her mother was Cora Benson and her father was Albert Heilman. They both lived in Chillicothe.

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks!

THESE HEILMANS WERE TAILORS IN BALTIMORE MD

I looked in the 1890 Baltimore directory and found Frederick Heilman, Conrad, Conrad C, Jacob and a few more Heilmans on Central Avenue in Baltimore, MD. My line of Heilmans were tailors--my mother used to visit her grandpa at the shop and watch him sew men's suits, sitting crosslegged on a long low table. One of Frederick's sons was Henry C. Heilman born in Pittsburgh, PA abt 1874 or 76--he is my gramps. Since the MD Archives informed me that they were not able to do my research and are sending my request back after 6 months, I hope someone out there can help me! Phyllis

I am looking for the descendants of
Adam Heilman and Mary nee Imgrund in Millwale Borrough, Alleghany Co, PA. Original names Johann Adam Heilmann and Maria.
They owned an inn "Bayerischer Hof" in Geiselbach, Lower Franconia and emigrated to America in 1877, with 4 children Katharina *1866, Andrew *1868, Fred *1869, and Joseph *1872; two more children William *1878 and Joseph L 1884-1968 were born in Pennsylvania.

Just thought I'd pass along a website that I ran across that should help anyone with Heilman/Hileman ancestors 1830'2 to pre-1910. They are putting a historical from the Beers Co. online from the early 1900's. I know sometimes this information is only as accurate as the story teller, but I have found that most of the information can be verified by other more reliable sources.

<http://www.pa-roots.com/~armstrong/beersproject>

Click on surname index and the following Heilman's are listed:

Harry A. Heilman
Harvey H. Heilman
James Heilman
James M. Heilman
John Heilman
Uriah Oury Heilman
William T. Heilman
Jacob T. Hileman
Miles Hileman

Other names can be found by reading each entry.

LOL

Mary
THOSE PA HEILMAN BOYS,FREDERICK,JACOB &CONRAD

My grandfather, Henry Heilman, was born in 1876 or so in Pittsburgh, PA. His father's name was Frederick who arrived in this country about the 1850's or 1860's. Within a few years, Frederick/s brothers, Jacob and Conrad, also arrived. I know my mother talked about Aunt Lizzy and Aunt Mary so this may give a clue to Jacob and Conrad's wives names. Also I'm not sure that Jacob and Conrad were not Henry's brothers born in Germany and Henry born in the US. I know that German was spoken in the home and that my grandfather spoke with an accent (Henry, that is) because my mother used to talk about his "west" (vest). There was a large German Bible which was borrowed from Henry and never returned. I have no documents to back any of this up and have arrived at the age when memory is insecure. Can anyone give me any information on my mother's family? Phyllis

Heilmans in NJ-CA

Am searching for my father's family...my
grandfather and grandmother were both born
in Germany/Prussia and moved over to this
country in between 1910 - 1920, through Ellis
Island. My father, Edward John Heilman, had
two older siblings, one named Arthur Heilman
known as "Sonny" who was a career Navy man, and
my aunt Doris. Arthur was born in 1933 and dad
was born in 1945. I don't have any information
on Doris. They lived in Trenton, NJ until the
late 1950's, early 60's. This is when they
moved to California. Am searching for family
in New Jersey and California, I know Arthur had
children with his wife Genii, I think there
was a boy and girl. My grandmother's name was
Lydia, but I don't know her maiden name. I
always thought grandpa's name was Arthur
because they called my uncle Sonny to avoid
confusion. I know he died before I was born
(71) but I can't locate him. Any help or
information would be appreciated, and I'd be glad
to share anything further if someone needs it.
Thanks!

The Arner Family Association seeks descendants of:

ALICE M. HEILMAN, Franklin F. Arner, 1853-____, Mauch Chunk, Carbon; Bethlehem, Northampton, PA.

You are almost certainly descendants of Hans Ulrich Arner and Verena Eberhard, 1735 immigrants from Switzerland to Philadelphia. Join us for an August 24-25, 2002 gathering in beautiful Lehigh County, Pennsylvania (1 hour north of Philadelphia).
Looking for ancestral Heilmans

I am looking for Heilmans in southwestern Pa. at the turn of the 20th century. My grandfather was William C., born 1902 in Johnstown, married to Mary Bellak, one son, William C. Jr.
I believe his father died at an early age, and his mother married a man named Layton. I am finding Heilmans all over eastern Pa., but can't get past my grandfather, to see which branch of the family is mine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to get in contact with other family members to get a family history, and see if any of our relatives are still in Germany.
I understand that the correct spelling of our name was Heilemann, but was changed down the line.

Hello,
Coonrod Hileman was living in then Baltimore, now Carroll County MD in 1790 when he purchased two pieces of land, "Gotham" and "Hockstadt Enlarged" (north of Bachman Valley near PA line). Martin Heilman bought land the same year. Conrad lived near Anna Mary Foltz, wife of John Foltz, and her death records in York County Pennsylvania note that her maiden name was Heilman (Heileman). Conrad sold both these large tracts of land to Anna Mary with the provision that she allow him to keep living in the stone part of the house and take care of him for the rest of his life. I'd say he's acting like her father. Can anybody place these people?

Frank Anthony Heilman

I am searching for any information relating to Frank Anthony Heilman. According to family he was born, 1880, in Kansas City, Kansas. Parents unknown. He married Bertha Grace Bird in Pueblo, CO. Frank worked for the railroad, the family says he talked about what a good farmer his father was. Frank and Bertha had 5 children together, all born in the Pueblo area. Frank deserted his family and Bertha divorced him. She subsequently remarried John Deforest and had one more child. The family thinks he may have started another family in California and may even have changed his name. If anyone has any information, I would greatly appreciate a correspondence
