POW/MIA Korean War, HEINZ

I am searching for the families of a soldier with the surname HEINZ that were lost in the Korean War. At this time the government has no family contact. At the time he was lost his remains were not recovered. Family DNA is needed to identify remains if and when they are recovered. At the time they entered service they gave their Home of Record as posted below

Soldier: EUGENE LAWRENCE HEINZ
Born: 1928
Date of loss: Oct. 12, 1951 MIA
Home of Record: Sutter County, Calif.

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. Our government has no family contact for this soldier.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (79 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find these families. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
517 Mohican Trail
Wilmington, NC 28409

40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
Jerry,

I have seven pages of information on the family of Susan Hennes and Peter Heinz, which is probably too long for this space. In addition, the information contains several images which I am not sure will transmit via this space. I will gladly send you a PDF file or Word file of this information if you will share you email address with me.

The names of the Susan's children are: Peter, Mary Philominia, Margaret Angela, Charles B., Jacob, Bernard, John Baptist, Susanna, Michael Alias, Ann Marie, Elizabeth, and Frances.

Harry
hlgruss@comcast.net

Born April, 1883 in New York.
I'm so thrilled I can't stand it!!!!!!! My sister is also flipping out too! I've got tons of info to share with you on the Hines' side.
Hi,

I am having a hard time locating any information on a George Peter Heinz, born probably about 1900-1910 in either Germany or the U.S. (likely Illinois). We have conflicting information on his birthplace and no information on his death, but we know that he married Mary (b. 1907) sometime after 1930 (abt 1930-1940) and had 5 boys in Illinois: Fred, George, James, Peter and Donald.

Any leads on George and this family would be greatly appreciated!

I received your message of: I found church-Notes about your Peter Heinz - married to Margaret Schomar!

Really? Can you give me the details? I've been looking for info on them for a few years. He was a calvary officer for Napoleon Bonaparte and I need a lead to find more info from French records. She's from France that I think is now German territory and they lived in Germany for awhile after the Napoleon abdicated, then he came to USA and she went back to France where she died. (They had to leave France so they wouldn't have their heads cut off)

My e-mail is firecrackerlou@aol.com

Thank you!!!!!

Heinz in England

My mothers parents names were William Pope and Winnie Hine ( Her parents escaped from Germany between 1900 and 1910, they changed their name from Heinz to Hine. They were wealthy plantation owners but lost most everything )
I have a strong feeling that both my grandmother and grandfather were Jewish.
But totally escaped there heritage for fear or persecution and moved to NZ around 1920. I have a deep love for the Jewish people. There is a mystery shrouded on my mother's side. Very little information which is a total contrast of my knowledge of the fathers Salisbury line. Does anyone else out there have a similar story?

Looking for information re: Nicholas Heinz from Sweden

I am looking for information regarding my husband's great, great grandfather, Nicholas Heinz. According to census reports, he was born in Sweden around 1853. He was married to a woman named Ida (unknown maiden name)around 1879. She was also born in Sweden around 1860. They immigrated to the US around 1886, port & ship unknown. They lived in New York. Their children's names were Gustave, Hannah, Ida, Olivia, Earl, Arthur, Mildred. We are guessing he died around 1930 though no information has been found that supports this. We're going from the memory of family members. We're trying to locate his parents names, Ida's maiden name and her parents names to continue this branch of the tree. Any and all information would be appreciated.

I'm also looking for a Heinz family in California. I have little to go on. I am looking for my "real" family. My father was adopted around 6 months to a year old. His name was Dennis Heinz, he was adopted in the bay area somewhere. His adopted mother told my grandmother that he had 7 or 8 brothers and sisters and that his real father died of TB. His real mother passed on too. Does any of this sound like your family? He was adopted by Jim and Susan Love who lived in the San Pablo area. He was born in 1947 I think, and I think his birthday was in Jan or Feb. BTW: I know Placerville! I grew up in Goergetown....beautiful country.

Hi, I'm responding to the information you posted Sept. 13. This information is about my great-grandfather's family. His name was Herman HEINZ, and August was one of his brothers. My father said that his grandfather never spoke about his siblings. I do know that there was also an uncle August too. The uncle fought alongside John HEINZ (my gr.gr. grandfather) and another brother Gustof in the Spanish-American War. My gr.gr. grandfather never saw his two brothers again after the war. I was so glad to get this information, because I haven't been able to get these census. Thank you for this wonderful information. Jean

Thomas Heinz of Connecticut

Any info on Thomas Heinz who lived in Hartford, CT in 1900 would be appreciated. b. 1862, m. Anna, immigrated to US 1892 with wife and daughter, Frederica. Census records state he was born in Austria (but it was probably Bohemia, which was part of Austria-Hungary at the time). Thomas must have died between 1900 and 1910. Only his wife is listed in 1910, 1920 and 1930. By 1930, she lived with her daughter and her daughter's family in Miami, FL. Her daughter had married a Bohemian, Frank Koehler. Family story has it that a brother of Marie Heinz Mentlik, b. 1867, who had immigrated to Baltimore with her husband Frank Mentlik in 1890, was surprised to discover one of her brothers who had ridden all the way to Baltimore from CT on a bicycle. I assume this brother was Thomas, because one of her brothers was named Tomas (in the old country).
