Being a family man, he retired because he did not want to go on tour.
Ana (Ida) Ziegler Heller

Hi!
I'm looking for family connections and more information about Ana (Ida) Ziegler.
Ana was one of 13 children. After her father was killed, her mother fled Russia with the kids to the USA, and did live in New York at some point. Some of Ana's sisters were Fanny, Sally, and Lena. A brother was Manny.
Ana married and had a son named Samuel in the 1920s. In the 30s she married Bernard Heller and they had 2 children, George and Marilynn. Samuel died young in an accident, I believe.
At some point Ana changed her name to Ida (I'm not sure when or why).

Any help would be great. Thanks!

Hello all,

My maternal grandmothers name was Celia Heller...on the 1910 census sheet.

However, I cannot find any reference to any of the family immigrating. While discussing this with my father, he informed me that he believes the name was something different, and was actually changed at Ellis Island.

I'm leaning toward believing this as there were no Hellers that match any of the family members coming up as search results on ellisisland.org.

Anyone have any thoughts as to other names I could try?

The family members that immigrated are:

Ruben dob 1865
Irene (Ida) dob 1890
Elizabeth dob 1892
Celia dob 1896

Thanks!

J

Looking for any help in finding info on Karl & Emily Heller Emily maiden name is deisner. They lived in Lodz,Poland in 1914 for sure. My grandmother Friedryka(Frieda)heller was born there in 1891 she came through ellis island in 1914 and has Karl listed as still living in lodz, she also had a sister Marie who was born in 1882. Marie married edward duesterhoeft and came to the states(around 1913) then Alberta , canada , then to milwaukee then orange county , california where they stayed. I believe they went to orange county in the 1930's. Karl and Emily Heller stayed in lodz and then maybe onto Berlin? I have a picture of them taken in 1918 that says Berlin on it.
I believe they also had a other daughters, Olga, Lydia, and a son Arthur.

Today I found this in a history book:
******************
Page 115
Lebanon County, Chapter XIV, The War for the Union -- the Services of the Lebanon County in That Civil Conflict.
FORTY EIGHTH REGIMENT, EMERGENCY TROOPS OF 1863.
Mustered in July 2-8, 1863; discharged August 26, 1863.
The invasion of Pennsylvania in the summer of 1863 with the cause of the call by Gov. Curtin Emergency troops, in obedience to which the following regiment was organized. The battle of Gettysburg resulting disastrously to the Confederate farms, the militia were no longer required in the Cumberland Valley. At this period serious apprehensions of trouble in the mining regions necessitated a delay in the mustering out of emergency troops. The Forty-eighth Regiment were sent to Scranton, where they remained until the latter part of August, when they were mustered out of service.
Co. C., Captain, William S.
John E. HELLER, (1834-1866) Dauphin Co., PA

I am a HELLER family descendant.
My family was from the HELLER's who at one time lived in Dauphin Co., Pennsylvania.
Recently I found this biography in a history book:
*************
"John E. Heller was born in 1834, in Rush Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. His early education was more or less limited, for at the age of 13 we find him an apprentice to the art of printing in the office of the American, at Sunbury, Pennsylvania, where he remained until he was 20 years of age. Afterwards, for several years, he was foreman in the office of the Miner's Journal, Pottsville. He then began the study of law, and was admitted to the Dauphin County for August 30, 1865, and began the practice of his profession at Harrisburg. His life of labor was comparatively brief, however, for he died rather suddenly of the residents of his father, in Rush Township, January 30, 1866, aged 32 years. His remains were interred in the Rush Church graveyard. "Mr. Heller," wrote the editor of the Sunbury American, who knew him well, "was a young man of exemplary conduct and good character, and with industry and good business habits he had a bright future before him.""
***********
Source: History of Dauphin Co., PA by William Egle, 1883, p.503
*************
I am unable to place this person in my database, and wonder if anyone knows who his parents were.

Hello, this is most positively my family. My grandmother was Mary Heller(Heyungs) from Secor Illinois, about 5 to 10 minutes from el paso. I heard Robert Heller's name alot around the house. I personally do not have a lot of information written out, but my mother has done some of the family tree for that family. My father also remembers alot about the family. I found Martin Heller's information in the Ellis island records. My mom could give more information though. You can e-mail her at charlotteheyungs@yahoo.com. Ask her what information you are looking for, and I will let her know to expect an e-mail. You could also post what questions you have, and I can get the information from her. I'm so happy there are other people looking.

Mary (Parsons) Heller, born abt 1867, lived Outagamie Co., WI

I have a postcard photograph of “Mary Parsons Heller, Christine Parsons Nash; and Saida (Sarah) Parsons Becker – she married Oscar Becker – they were sisters of Henry Parsons”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in about 1905, and each of the sisters appears to be in their 30s.

I found a Parsons family in the 1870 census for Dale (Outagamie Co.) WI, showing parents Fred (39) and Albertine (32), with Anna (5), Elizabeth (4), Mary (3), and son Charles (1). I received direct information that at least two of the sisters Mary, Christine and Sarah were teachers, and that two of their brothers worked for Walgreens in Appleton, WI.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Mary Parsons Heller.

Re: Search for Adam Heller

It is possible that Adam Heller was the son of Adam Heller, Sr., born in the 1750's in Northampton, PA., the son of Zachariah Heller and Anna Wannamacher. (The Heller name is listed in church records, other variations are Haller and Holler.) I believe that Lehigh was formed from Northampton. Refer to the 2nd generation page on this website for a little information on Adam, Sr.:

http://www.thefamilygenealogist.com/descendantsofzachariahho...

Heller, recently settled in Mobile, most respectfully solicits the patronage of the citizens of Mobile and vicinity. The aid of an experience obtained during seven years of practice in Havana, on the coast of Mexico and eleven years in the United States, he is able to treat the diseases peculiar to the South, as well as others, properly and satisfactorily."

Not my line, just sharing.

Can anyone identify this picture?

I am not going to include much info in this thread so as not to sway anyone's opinion. I am attaching a wedding picture that seems to be from the early 1920's or so. The surnames could include Parfitt, Heller, McInroy, Woodhouse. We have an idea who this maybe but there is some opinion differences among family members. The area would probably have been around NY or Penn. Anyone who recognizes anyone in the picture please let me know. Thanks
