The Rev. Paul V. Helm Jr., 68, a retired United Church of Christ minister formerly of Lancaster, died Sept. 28 at his home, 2870 116th Place Westminster, Colo., after an illness of four years. He was the husband of Betty Sayers Helm, with whom he observed their 43rd wedding anniversary Aug. 21. Helm graduated in 1940 from Franklin and Marshall College and in 1943 from the Lancaster Theological Seminary, where he earned his divinity degree. Ordained in May of 1943, Helm served churches in Maryland, Ohio, and North Carolina. He was pastor of First Reformed United Church of Christ in Lexington, NC from 1970 to 1980. After retiring, he was elected pastor emeritus in 1981. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Paul V. and Edith Moore Helm Sr. Surviving besides his wife are a son, John, Denver, Colo.; two granddaughters; a sister, Frances, wife of Kenneth A. Wolf, Kingsville, Texas; and a brother, James, Fleetwood.
