My question is this...does anyone have information for Jacob? I would like to know who his parents were and keep going back. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi, I have been researching my family history. My madien name is Hamilton. However, my research has discovered that was not the original last name, my grandfather was born Helman, and changed it prior to his marriage to my grandmother.

1. William Helman (?-?) married Elvine (or Evelyn) [Unknown]

2. Harry (Henry) Carol Helman/Hamilton (1889-1959) married Goldia Worthington (his second wife and under the Hamilton name). He was born in Harrison, Ohio. He married Goldia in Arkansas before moving to Oklahoma, where he died.

I am looking for information on Mary. I have found her mentioned on-line in several places, but the information is inconsistant. For example.... Mary is listed as the wife of both John William Leap BAGENSTOS and the wife of his son, William Henry BAGENSTOS. In another on-line reference (1911 biographies, "History of Poweshiek County Iowa - ...", John is listed as married to Elizabeth HELLMAN, while William is listed as married to Catharine KNODLE. According to the obituary for William Henry, he and Mary Catherine were wed in 1867 and she died in 1918. If you have any information on Mary, please contact me. Florene C. Helman

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Florene C. Helman, 93, of ManorCare Health Services, and formerly of 26 Clover Circle, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 1996, at ManorCare.

Born Aug. 9, 1903 in Marion, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Viola Kuhn Gift.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Helman, in 1971.

She was a member of Heidelberg United Church of Christ for more than 75 years. She was a member of the Golden Link Sunday School Class.

She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Stafford of Tallahassee, Fla.; two sons, J. Edwin Helman of Chambersburg and Thomas R. Helman of Carlisle, Pa.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. Donald R. Moul will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

Memorial donations may be made to Heidelberg United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 247, Marion, Pa. 17235.

I great grandmother Lucretia married Samuel H. Metzler in Spokane Co. 1896. I have very little information on her family. I do know, based on her obituary in Seattle, that she was born in Hannibal, MO on September 27, 1873 and died in Seattle, WA on July 24, 1961. Her Mother Susan E. Raimey was born on 1852 and died on 1936. I have no information on Lucretia's father. I find it interesting that Lucretia's maiden name is Helman but her mother's name is Raimey. Did she remarry, divorce??? I would appreciate any family info on Lucretia Helman or Susan E. Raimey. One other note, they both owned land in Eastern Washington in 1900s.

I am searching for information on a Wilhemina Helman who lived in or around Lappeenranta/Villmanstrand of South Karelia, Finland in the years (estimate) of 1870 - 1912. She married Samuel Hendrickson and had a daughter, Olga, in 1896. Olga moved to Portland, Oregon in 1914, but there is no record of any other family members coming to US. Obituary: A. Clifford Helman Jr., 65, of 4709 Marblehead St., Lower Paxton Twp., died Wednesday in Woodstock, Va., as a result of an automobile accident.

He was an industrial engineer with Genesco; a member of the Colonial Park United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 945 and VFW Post 1718; and a Navy veteran of World War II.

He was the widower of Doris Jean Helman. Surviving are three sons, James C. of Atlanta, Robert M. of York Springs, and Raymond E. of Harrisburg; a daughter, Barbara A. Dirk of Hummelstown; two sisters, Edith Spohn of Harrisburg, and Alva Prinz of Orlando, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Obituary: Catherine Beckman Helman, 81, of 6220 Blue Grass Ave., Lower Paxton Twp., died yesterday at home.
She was retired from the Harrisburg School District, and was a member of Harris Street United Methodist Church and its Anniversary Sunday School Class.
She was the widow of Pete Helman. Surviving are three sons, Walter Jr. of Summerdale, Robert E. of Harrisburg, and G. Roger of Middletown; four daughters, Dorothy M. Granigan of Harrisburg, Mildred A. Salvino of Valley Forge, Jane E. Fulmer of Highspire, and Patricia A. Sipos, with whom she lived; 31 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Neumyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.
Viewing will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Charles A. Helman, 69, of 10499 Newburg Road, Roxbury, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997 in his home.

Born Feb. 23, 1928 in New Franklin, Franklin County, he was a son of the late Grover Cleveland and Mary Keefer Helman.

Retired from Grove Manufacturing, Shady Grove, he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Vonnie M. Ile Helman; a son, Thomas C. Helman, of Orlando, Fla.;a daughter, Sherie R. Hurst of Orlando; three brothers, Kenneth E. and Lonnie L. of Chambersburg and Roy D. of Fayetteville; six sisters, Mary Lewis, Carrie Wingert, Betty McClure, Eva Defenderfer, Dorothy Clark, Doris Gayman, all of Chambersburg; a grandson;and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc.,112 W. King St., Shippensburg with the Rev. J. R. Wells officiating. Burial will be in Otterbein Cemetery, Lurgan Township.

Friends may call Friday at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m.

Clarence H. Helman, 88, of San Jose died at 10:35 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 1991, at Hopedale Medical Complex.

He was born Sept. 1, 1903, in San Jose to Henry and Matilda Joesting Helman.

Surviving are one cousin, Gertrude McLaren of Peoria; and several nieces and nephews. Three sisters and one brother preceded him in death.

He was a retired painter for Caterpillar Inc. A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of San Jose United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at his church, the Rev. Jeff Rasche officiating. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Styninger Funeral Home, San Jose. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, San Jose. Memorials may be made to San Jose United Methodist Church Youth Project.

Constance G. Helman, 40, Phoenix, Ariz., died Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix after a long illness.

She was born Jan., 22, 1944, in Indiana and married Peter M. Helman in October 1964 in Elkhart. He survives with two sons, Eric and Mark, both at home; her parents, George and Dortha Fletchall, Mt. Vernon; and a sister, Beth Ann Villaverde, Arizona.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Whitney and Murphy Funeral Home, Phoenix, where funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Darryl DelHousaye, Scottsdale Bible Church, will officiate. Her body will be cremated.

Mrs. Helman moved to Phoenix from Elkhart 10 years ago. She was employed as a clerk at a pharmacy in Phoenix.

Obituary: Donna J. Helman, 32, of 727 S. 17th St., Philadelphia, formerly of Dauphin, died Tuesday in Mexico.

She was a registered nurse and an employee of Graduate Hospital, Philadelphia; a graduate of LaSalle University, Philadelphia; a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Philadelphia; a former member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Dauphin; and a member of the Association of Critical Care Nurses and Sigma Theta Tau, the international nursing honor society.

Surviving are her parents, Richard J. and Mary Ann Helman of Dauphin; a brother, David J. of Pasadena, Md.; a sister, Beth Ann Weaver of Mount Joy; and her maternal grandmother, Elizabeth H. Pierchala of Holsopple.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Matthew Catholic Church, Dauphin. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, West Hanover Twp.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Geigle Funeral Home, Susquehanna Twp., where a prayer service will be held at 8 p.m.

Gertrude W. Helman, 105, Sedalia

Gertrude W. Helman, formerly of Green Ridge, died Tuesday, June 11, 1996, at Four Seasons Living Center.

She was born July 13, 1890, in Green Ridge, daughter of Charles L. and Ella J. Weeden Calvert. On Nov. 28, 1911, in Green Ridge, she married Forrest E. Helman who died June 11, 1955.

Mrs. Helman was raised and educated in Green Ridge and lived there all her life. She was a member of Green Ridge Presbyterian Church and a past member of the Green Ridge Garden Club. She was a charter member of Guilding Star No. 353, which was later combined with Pettis Chapter No. 279 Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include a daughter Beth Palmer, Sedalia; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Mildred Helman and Mary Ella Hausam, and an infant son.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Jeffery L. Cochran officiating.

Pallbearers will be Paul Calvert, Donald Calvert, David Calvert, J.L. Purchase, Winston Ream and Francis Mergen

Burial will be in McKee Chapel Cemetery, Sedalia

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.

The family suggests contributions to the Church.
