Maxine Steele
Maxine SteeleMaxine Helton Steele, 78, of Corbin, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin.
Mrs. Steele was born on August 25, 1929, in Knox County, a daughter to the late Willard Helton and the late Dora Wright Helton.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Frank Steele;
two brothers, Harold and Glenn Helton;
one sister, Norma Helton; and
one grandson, Ernie Steele Jr.
Mrs. Steele was of the Baptist faith and a member of Candle Ridge Baptist Church.
She was an avid volunteer at Chapel House, Friendship House and the Corbin Senior Citizens Group.
Mrs. Steele had previously worked at RCA in Cincinnati, Elicon of Corbin, local restaurants and she retired as a Tupperware sales manager.
Survivors include two sons, Jackie Steele Sr. and wife Joyce of London, and
Ernie Steele and wife Lynn of Ashland;
one brother, James Helton of Jackson;
four sisters, Peggy Hutton of Gray, Myrna Elliott of Cincinnati, Ohio, Betty Medlin of Gray and Bonnie Engle of Gray;
12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren;
and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, relatives and
loved ones.
To the family of Mrs. Steele, the staff of Corbin Funeral Home would like to offer you our heartfelt sympathy during your time of bereavement.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Corbin Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Larry Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Knox County.
Pallbearers will be Wallace Engle, Jake Ryan Steele, Joe Webb, Darrell Childers, Jackie Steele Jr. and Jeremy Steele.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Monday, June 30, at Corbin Funeral Home.
Corbin Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements, Byron L. Schiesz, director.
