Dr. Hempe came to London from Hanover with George III's mother (Augusta of Saxe-Gotha). He was acquainted with John Pringle and Benjamin Franklin about 1767. His obituary is in Gentleman's Magazine, XLV, 3 Oct. 1775, p. 503. I'd like to know his full name, and any other information about him.

I am looking for information on Johann Friedrich Hempe who came to the USA in the late 1840s from Silesia, Prussia. His son, Heinrich Herman, is my ggrandfather. Johan lived in Milwaukee, WI in the 1850s and was a tailor.
