Bertha (Leehan) Beam Hemphill, 90,
was surrounded by her family when she passed away Thursday evening, August 16, 2012 at Edinboro Manor following a short illness. She was born in Albion on August 22, 1921, daughter of the late George and Anna (Lynch) Leehan. Bertha was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Albion. Throughout her life her family was always her first priority. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James "Pete" Beam, her second husband, Kenneth Hemphill, a step-son, Merle Hemphill, a granddaughter, Erin Danowski, and three sisters, Gertrude Williams, Doris Sample and Geraldine Walp. She is survived by her daughter, Sharan Danowski and her husband, Chester, of Albion, a son, Clayton Beam and his wife, Susan, of Butler, Pa., a step-daughter, Mary "Sis" Jeffreys and her husband, Willis, of Erie, three grandchildren, Daniel Danowski, Ashley and Kyle Beam, two great-grandchildren, Leah and Adam Danowski, two sisters, Reges Kuvik of Albion and Marie Kimmy of Fairview, and several nieces and nephews. Private calling hours will be held by the family. Friends may attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Philip Oriole officiating. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Crossingville. Memorials may be made to the Albion Fire Department, 19 Smock Avenue, Albion, Pa. 16401 or to West County Paramedics, 6852 Meadville Road, Girard, Pa. 16417.
