I have a James Hemphill, son of William Hemphill and Jane Cook, living in
Milford, Worc., MA. The parents never emigrated.
James left Ireland, probably from Moville, Donegal, in 1848 and married Margaret Miller in 1853. He is in the Milford Census records until he dies in 1883 in Milford. He seems to have worked in a boot factory through his working life.
Margaret is the daughter of Jane Collins and John Miller. Her mother, Jane, is
living with them in the 1865 State Census, age 80. She died in Milford and
her death record gives HER parents as Robert and Ann Collins - all names in
the Moville area. Her maiden name was Lawson, I think.
