Hempstead family Brooklyn to Bridgeport, CT

There's one small branch of my family out there that are Hempsteads that I've never met. Herbert Hempstead Jr. b. 11/5/1889 died in Sarasota, FL in 1971, he married Camille Mildred Neal in 1917 in Bridgeport, CT, they had one daughter that I know of, Camille Hempstead born around 1929. I cant find anything past that about any living relatives.

Herbert Hempstead Jr's mother was Alice Beal of Brooklyn, NY, she is my great-great grandfather's sister. The Beal family stayed small over the years but I am looking for the Hempstead branch that may be in Connecticut or Florida.

John Hempstead b. 1709 CT to NY???

Does anyone have info on John Hempstead b. abt. 1709 in CT (son of diarist Joshua)? He married Hannah Salmon from Southold in 1731. Here's my problem.... In "The Descendants of Henry Hitt of Woodbury CT" by Maurice Hitt, one entry has a Henry Hitt b. 1726 in Greenwich, CT married to ____ Hempstead, daughter of John Hempstead of Cortlandt Manor NY. I'm pretty sure there was a John Hempstead in Cortlandt Manor, but I'm not entirely comfortable that he is the son of Joshua, the diarist (as I've seen in a couple of posted trees). Did John and Hannah move into Westchester Co NY? If so, did they have a daughter who married Henry Hitt? Hitt, Finch and Sprague family names are in my tree. Hempstead is my brick wall. If you know anything at all, I'd appreciate the help in proving the connection!

Hemsted family from Newbury, Berkshire, UK

Looking for connections to this family. I have Stephen Hemsted born c 1752, died 16 Jan 1810 and married to Mary Sellwood. Their daughter Mary Sellwood Hemsted born 1778 in the village of Chieveley (just north of Newbury), died 1855 London and was married to Richard Hilhouse, grocer and tea dealer in London. There is an interesting name "Rustat" which appears as a first name. Searching Google, I noticed a Stephen Rustat Hemsted disputing a patent in 1995 in Manchester which sounds as though the family is still going strong somewhere. Can anyone add to this?

Seeking info on Frank Wm Hempstead who married Annie Baudro and then Lillian.
Frank's parents are likely William A Hempstead and Nulia Buddington.
Frank and Annie had a daughter name Beatrice born about 1920 in Groton or Ledyard CT. New London county. What happened to her?
I think Annie died in 1923 and Frank remarried to a woman named Lillian. Census records indicate they had 3 children, Alma L., Ida M., and Frank W. all born between 1925-1930 in the Groton, New London Co., CT area.
Please contact me or post if you are interested in or connected to this family.

Mary , I have an Elwood Hempstead who was born in Greenport. His birthdate was Sept. 12, 1917 and his parents were Wolsey Thomas Hempstead and Magdalena (Lena) Acker. He came from a large family and he was the oldest. He had twin sisters born abt. 1921 named Marion and Lillian, brother Richard b. abt. 1923, sister Elva b. Mar 27, 1926 and brother Wolsey T. b. abt. 1929. I do not know who or if he married. I thought that since the names was very similar and the geographic area was close that this could be your ancestor. Do any of the names and dates sound right ?

Hemsted family Brooklyn, New York

My great grandmother was Kezia Hemsted (helmstadt) Roberts. Her family lived in Brooklyn, New York. Her father's name was Martin, mother was Kezia and there were 9 children, including Martin, Jr., Martha, Henry, Richard, Lillie or Lidia (different on 1880 and 1870 census), Lonzo or Alfonso and Leander or Leonard. There was also another daughter born in about 1850. I really can't read the writing on the 1870 census, but it looks like it could be Hannah. Both parents were born in Breman, Germany. All the kids were born in Long Island. Does anybody have any information on this family?

Can anyone give me the date and location of the deaths of Thomas Hempstead and Mary Chapman? Thomas b 1739/40 is the son of Stephen Hempstead and Sarah Holt. Thomas and Mary had children from 1766-1783 but I am also unsure of the place of birth of these children.

My Hempstead line is Robert, Joshua, Joshua, Stephen, Thomas, James and Huldah Bosworth, Calvin and Amanda Wilcot(t), Abigail and William Jay Wylie (Wisconsin). I am new at this connection to Joshua's line and would appreciate any help. I am particularly interested in sources for the information on the family. I will be glad to share any information I have from family records.

Joseph and Caroline Hempstead of Indiana 1810-ish.

Hi folks, I 've recently started looking for info on a relative, Hetty Hempstead, knowing only her father born 1810 or 11 named Joseph and her Mother Caroline born maybe 1812.
All I can find is the 1860 census, Indiana, Stuben County, Salem Township which listed Joseph 50, born NY, Caroline 48? born Penn. Children Fred 14 born Ind, Betsey 11 born Indiana, Mary J. 7 born Indiana, Emery M 4 born Indiana, Emerette 1 born Indiana and a house keeper Rachel Holister 16 born Ohio and her s on Charles 1 born Indiana. Hetty was not born yet (not till 1861) and I don't find them still in this county or township in 1870. Wonder where they went? Anybody know of Hetty, her parents, her siblings?
I did find a marriage record for Emery in Stuben County, Ind. 26 Dec. 1875 it is said he married a Minnie Higbee.
Many thanks to anyone who can help.

William Hempstead & Mercy Palmer - Madison Cty, NY ca. 1817

I am trying to trace the ancestry of my 4th great-grandmother Mercy PALMER. She was married to William HEMPSTEAD. They moved from Stonington, CT to Brookfield Township, Madison County, NY sometime around 1815 and had moved on to Onondaga County by 1830. I believe that "Mercy" may be the Mary PALMER who was daughter of Simeon PALMER of Stonington, CT (died May 1805) and his second wife Elizabeth DENNIS. This Mary had a sister named Frances PALMER. A Madison County deed dated September 17, 1817 in which William HEMPSTEAD, his wife Mercy PALMER sell land, lists Elizabeth and Frances PALMER as witnesses. Has anyone come across Elizabeth (DENNIS) PALMER, Frances PALMER, or Mary (Mercy) PALMER in their research?

There is a record of their marriage in Groton, (New London County)
CT., and further mention of them later in Thomaston/Plymouth,
(Litchfield County, CT.). I believe it was their son William Henry Richmond who served in the Civil War (Enlishment papers show Groton, later pension (for service in the Spanish American War) show Thomaston, CT.).
Family of Thomas Hempsted

I have a puzzle and need help. I have a handwritten record from the National Archives that states the last child of Thomas Hempsted (b. 1732 md. Mary Chapman 28 Oct. 1764 d. 1794) was Gideon Hempsted (b. 5 Jan 1783 md. Eliza/Betsy Wylie 7 Feb. 1813 d. 25 June 1857)but on FamilySearch the Ancestral File records indicate the last son of Thomas was David b. 1783. As Gideon is my 3rd ggrandfather thru his son, Nathanial (b. 23 April 1829 in NY), it is imperative that I link Gideon with David as I am sure they are the same. Does anyone have information to share on this? I would love to hear from any family members.
