Has anyone come across a leonard hemsworth in their research? He's my GGrandfather, born around 1865-1880 probably in Yorkshire. Had at least 1 son (Horace). That's all the info I havve at the moment, would love to hear from anyone with info.

To George Hemsworth - have traced my husband Peter's relatives back to Edward H of Garforth (married Mary Carlin 1759); getting a bit lost before that. Pete's family lived in Leeds (Cross Gates/Halton/Swillington). There are so many Hemsworths in Yorkshire that I would welcome any information you could give me on your researches to do with Thomas and son Stephen in Garforth/Swillington as this may save me some duplication of effort!

In my search for more on Jessie Hemsworth's family, I believe I've come across her mother, Euphemia (or Euphema), who was born about 1813 in Scotland. Jessie also seems to have had a sister Anna (married Alexander McKenzie) and a brother John.

As before, any info linking these nice folks into the Hemsworth tree would be much appreciated.

Sources for above data:
US census 1870 for Grand Rapids, MI, shows Jessie Hemsworth working as a domestic servant for another family, 18 years old, born in Ontario, and has a mother from Scotland and a father from Ireland. She is living with her brother John, 24 y.o., and her mother Euphemia, 57 y.o. Euphemia was born in Scotland, to Scottish parents.

In 1880, John and Euphemia are in Plainfield, Kent, MI, living with John (and Jessie's) sister Anna McKenzie (Anna's husband is Alexander McKenzie).

In 1881 John and Euphemia are listed in the Canadian census, living in Springfield, Selkirk, Manitoba. By now Euphemia is 67 and John is 35. [Jessie and her husband James Armstrong also lived in Springfield at this time]

My great-great grandmother was Jessie Hemsworth (according to her daughter's death certificate), born July 21, 1852 in Ontario, married James Burns Armstrong, had 8 daughters (Marion, the eldest, was my ggrandm), and died sometime after 1900. Lived in Springfield, Manitoba, and then in Winnipeg after James died.

If anyone can connect me into the tree, I'd appreciate knowing more-- I'd certainly be happy to share the little I know about Jessie's descendants. I have photos of Marion and possibly of some of her sisters, but not of Jessie (as far as I know).

I am trying to trace the birth details of my great grandfather who according to family was born in Cork, Ireland. His father was called William and there is no birth record for him in the UK. I have lots of Aunts and Uncles (Moms siblings) that are Hemsworths, some living and some deceased. Mom came from Minnesota, perhaps we are related to the Hemsworths in Canada, but I was told that my great-grandfather came from Virginia and that the family was from England. Anyone interested in talking?

Do you have any data on John Thomas Hemsworth and Mary Lawless? They came to North America via Canada from Ireland, had a daughter Sara Jane in Canada, then settled in Pawtucket RI. Sara Jane married Edward Kirley there in 1875.
