Impressions and Observations of the Journal Man, Oregon Journal, Jan 22, 1927- Interview of Elizabeth Rees Hendershott:
"My husband was in the harness business at Walla Walla [WA]. Shortly after our marriage my husband was offered and accepted a position as manager of the branch store at Dayton of Cook & Quinn. Wel lived at Dayton or Pomeroy for the next 15 years. All of our children were born at Dayton. From Dayton we moved to the old place at Butteville [OR], where we lived for eight years. In 1896 we moved to Newberg [OR] so our children could attend Pacific college. In 1898 we moved to Portland. My husband was in the fuel business for some years. Later he became bailiff in the federal court. He served as commandant of Lincoln- Garfield post of the G. A. R. and for a while was in charge of the soldiers home at Roseburg. "
