Looking for assistance with my great-great-grandfather, John Thomas Henderson.
I’ve been working on my line of Hendersons for over 2 yrs but I have a lot of confusion as to whether I have the “correct” John Thomas Henderson. I’m tracing him via my father, Ed Cooper Henderson, his father, Ben Zelah Henderson, and his father, Zachariah Henderson. I have John Thomas Henderson as B 30 Jan 1810 in Jasper, Pickens, Georgia; D 1881 in Webb, Henry, Alabama. Married: Mary Jane Dias (or Dyess) (1848 – 1915); children: Edward Marion Henderson 1837 – 1898; Zachariah E (Zack) Henderson 1855 – 1922; James Andrew Henderson 1857 – 1920; Mazura Henderson 1864 – ?; Ellen Lela Henderson 1869 – 1933; Indianna "Anna" Henderson 1873 – 1934; Lillie Henderson 1873 – 1964; Lula Virginia Henderson 1874 – 1956; George Washington Henderson 1876 – 1945; Sarah Sylvesta "Sally" Henderson 1880 – 1964. All living in either SW Georgia or SE Alabama. His parents were Major Henderson and Mary “Polly” Strozier.
But there is strong evidence that John Thomas Henderson was B 1817 in Georgia,
D: Oct 1857 in Butler County, Alabama. He married Lucinda Williams McMichael with children Hix Henderson, Brockman W Henderson, Hillary Henderson; Amanda Henderson, Pollard Henderson, James Permelius Henderson, John McMichael Henderson, Emily Henderson and Shadrick M Henderson.
Naturally, people remarry, have more kids, etc. But the differences between the two men named John Thomas Henderson seem too large to be the same person. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!
