John Henderson & Margaret Ann Miller of Tarentum, Allegheny Co., PA

Would like to learn more about my g.g. grandparents JOHN HENDERSON and MARGARET ANN MILLER. I have 1860, 1870, and 1880 census records but nothing earlier. I have nothing on John's parents or siblings. In the census they said John was born in Pennsylvania. My mother thought John died about 1858. Margaret is head in 1860, so this probably is close to correct.

Margaret's parents were GEORGE MILLER and MARGARET ?, both born in Ireland. Margaret Ann Miller Henderson was born about 1835 and died some time after the 1880 census. Cannot find Margaret in 1900. They lived in Fawn and Tarentum Townships, Allegheny County during this time.

John and Margaret's children were my g. grandmother ELIZABETH ("Lizzie") JANE HENDERSON 1853-1890, GEORGE MILLER HENDERSON 1856-1890, and JOHN W. HENDERSON 1858-. Elizabeth Jane married DAVID CHRISTY MEANOR and their children were MARY LUCRETIA ("Creta") MEANOR, HAROLD HENDERSON MEANOR, Sr., ROBERT RAYMOND MEANOR, and DAVID CHRISTY MEANOR, Jr. The boys Robert and David both died in childhood. Mary Lucretia married OLIVER M. DEEMS and they lived in West Pike Run Twp. and Centerville, Washington Co., PA. Harold Henderson married Mary Margaret Baker.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am kin to Littleton Johnston. Littleton's daughter Frances "Frankie" Johnston married Joseph Henderson and their daughter Lucinda Henderson Robinson would be my g-g-g-g-gmother. I am wondering if you have ever read Littleton's will and if so what do you think about the part which denies daughter Frankie's part in the will if she ever in anyway takes back joseph henderson? Wonder what he did? Just thought I'd post this and see if any other part of the family might know?? Thanks!
I am a great-great-grandson of Rebecca Henderson Smith, who was married to "Daniel" Smith. I've never heard his name as "Christopher". Yes, their children named are correct. Bell Zora Smith Gayler is my great-grandmother. She married Henry Asbury Gayler (Gaylor) spelling differs @ different times. My grandmother is Carrie Gayler Robertson, born December 3, 1913...died June 8, 1989, in Seminole, OK. I have been told that Rebecca was a Creek Indian. Do you know if this is a fact?? This is exciting for me. I've been searching for more relatives. Please respond and if you have any more questions, I'll do all I can to help.

Did some digging for Watson and Effie.

WWII Draft Reg for Watson shows "Mrs Effie Apperson Henderson".

1920 Census lists Effie as "Effie A. B. Henderson".

Son Joseph B. listed in a couple of trees as "Joseph Ballard".

Another online tree shows "Watson Solday" and "Effie Apperson Ballard" as parents of "Nancy Elizabeth Henderson".

If these leads are correct, then Effie is probably the daughter of Joseph A. and Mary T. Mills Ballard seen in 1900 and 1910 Stafford County Virginia. Birth listed on the Stafford VaGenWeb site. Joseph and Mary buried at Berea Baptist Church Cemetery.
The Henderson-Ballard marriage may have taken place in either Stafford or King George County. It doesn't show in any online records for either county. You may have to do some legwork to find the actual record for proof.

E. H. MARTIN

Mrs. Emeline H. Martin, nee Henderson, for almost 30 years a residentof this city, died at 8 o'clock this morning, at the age of 51 years, after an illness of several weeks' duration, caused by nervousproseration. Deceased was born in Jersey county, Feb. 15th, 1837. Shewas married to Wm. G Pinckard, Jr., Sept. 16th, 1857. Capt. Pinckardwas in the Union army during the war of the rebellion and was killedin West Virginia, Feb. 15th, 1864. Deceased was united in matrimony toMr. W. W. Martin, whom she survived, Jan. 30th 1866. All of hermarried life was spent in Alton with the exception of a few years inEdwardsville prior to the time her first husband entered the army.

Mrs. Martin had long been one of the most prominent ladies in Alton, aleader in social circles and foremost in every enterprise whichenlisted the good works, or benevolence, of the ladies of the city. She was looked up to as a leader and guide by her associates, and wasregarded with affection and respect by a host of friends who admiredher many virtues, her brilliant intellectual gifts and her manyexcellences of mind and heart. Her untimely death is a personal loss, not alone to her relatives and friends, but to the community where shehad spent the greater part of her active life. Of a happy and genialdisposition she was ever a welcome guest, or a charming hostess, andin passing away she leaves sad hearts in many homes besides her own.Notwithstanding all the outside claims on her care and attention shewas ever devoted to the best interests of her family, and was the lifeand light of her home.

Mrs. Martin had been a faithful, efficient member of the PublicLibrary Association for about twelve years, acting as President of thesociety for the last two years and at her death still serving in thatcapacity. We are informed that she is the first of the lady directorsof the Association, since its organization, who has passed to theother shore. She was also a member of the M. E. church and ever activeand earnest in works of kindness and philanthropy. Four childrensurvive her, two by her first husband: Wm. R. Pinckard, of Kingman,Kan.; and MIss Mary E.
Robert Henderson

I am looking for information about Robert Henderson, born 4 Mar 1798, died 20 August 1839. He was probably born in Scotland and probably died in Ohio or Indiana. He married Betsy Parker on August 16, 1827, probably in NY. I have information about their family, but nothing more about Robert.

Hi, I have finally found my great grandmother's name as Anetta Henderson. She married John Nute Tucker in 1884 in Garland Co., Ark. under that name. She is listed in various census records after their marriage as N. Nancy or Nancy. Could you please check your records for the Nancy you have listed to see if she might be that Nancy. I believe she was born in 1867. Her father is listed as from Ark and her mother from Kentucky. I appreciate any help you can provide. I seem to be stuck once again.
