Hendersons - PA

My grandfather Joseph Leander Henderson originallly of Monroe County, Ohio had most of his relatives migrate to SW PA prior to E. PA and NJ. They spent most of their years in SW PA and WVA before SW Ohio. many years ago................Anyway my grandfather took a trip to East PA and NJ to visit relatives in the 1950's, He is since deceased and no one ever know of these relatives. I would really like to locate Hendersons in that area that have evidence of Hendersons that migrated to the SE Ohio area.

ANY Hendersons of PA

I cannot find the missing link to my ancestor Uriah Henderson of Dunbar Fayette Co PA. Could he have been connected to Steward Henderson or a Robert Henderson who I believe were in the area of Fayette Co? I just can't find anything to connect Uriah to any life prior to the appearance of him and his family on the 1850 census of Dunbar. Any information on Hendersons of PA is most welcome.
Thanks

Henderson brothers from Torthorwald, Dumfries, Scotland

I am seeking information on three brothers, Thomas Henderson, William Henderson and James Henderson. Thomas was a draper and got married, I believe, in Newfoundland, he was born October 1839. William Henderson was a grocer in New York. He was married twice, first wife Jane ?, and the second wife ? Mackenzie. He was born in 1842 and James Henderson was a prospector in Colorado do not have a birth year for him but believe it was after 1842 and before 1853. These brothers are my g.g.uncles and it would fill a gap in the family tree if I could find information on them and their families.
Thanks.

William I think went to New York and was a grocer, Thomas went to Newfoundland and I think was married there. The parents were Robert Henderson and Jean Grierson who were married in Torthorwald in 1833.

Agnes Henderson married William Dickson and their children were William, Robert, Agnes, Jane and Janet.

Roger Henderson married Margaret Hamilton and Mary Henderson married John Hamilton. Jane Henderson married Thomas Todd and John Henderson married Emily Stredwick, and he was a sergeant in Engineers.
Hendersons from Donegal

I have a maternal great-grandmother, Sarah Henderson from -- broadly -- the Manorcunningham area of Donegal. She appears to have had a brother Charles. I can't find any further information on them. I would love to hear from anyone who knew more about this family.

Sarah Henderson probably was born between 1840-1850 and in 1871 she married Robert O'Donnell in Leck. She died in 1909 in Ray Raymochy. The couple appear to have lived in Corkey and Carrickballydooey. They had a passle of children: Bridget, Charles, Hugh, Edward, Maggie, Mary, Annie, Isabell. Charles, Annie and Maggie married and raised families in Donegal. Bridget moved to Derry as did Mary. Mary died young, unmarried. THe rest I am unsure of - possibly the US?

Among my mother and father's pictures I found a picure of a young man in uniform. On the back is printed "PVT. LEVI HAROLD HENDERSON to Ramond & Edna & baby" (Me being the baby). By that Levi was in the service around 1952-1955. Since my grandmother was Lula Henderson Tarr, living in Bracken/Robertson Cos in KY one would assume this Levi is related to her (Edna was her daughter). I am looking for any relatives of this young man. Would love to share the picture and hopefully stories and information concerning the Henderson family from the Bracken and Robertson Co's area. Feel free to email me at KYgengirl1@aol.com. Thanks in advance.
Paula Avery

Robert B Henderson (married 1903 KS) Miss Lottie Adella Mount

Henderson – Mount

At the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Mount of Haven, Kansas, Wednesday, September Sixteen, Nineteen Hundred-three, at three o’clock, occurred the marriage of their daughter, Lottie Adella, to Mr. Robert B. Henderson of Jefferson City, Missouri.

About eighty relatives and friends had assembled in the parlors when, as the appointed hour drew near, Mrs. J. A. Miller sang “All for You.” Then, to the strains of Lohrengrins wedding march, rendered by Miss Amy Astle, the bridal couple entered preceded by Miss Carrie Thorp, bearing the ring; Miss Jennie Michaels as bridesmaid, and Mr. Ed Mount as groomsman. In the sunny south window, in a bower of dainty plants and flowers the Reverend B. F. Buck received them and after a few appropriate remarks, pronounce the ring ceremony of the Congregational church, throughout which were heard the low tones of the piano.

All present then pressed forward to offer congratulations and best wishes.

Dainty refreshments were served in the dining room and the guests reluctantly departed about six o’clock.

The bride was becomingly dressed in a brown traveling gown with a white net waist made over silk and trimmed with bands of white satin ribbon. She carried an exquisite bouquet of ferns and white roses. The bride’s maid ware green and white gown trimmed with lace and carried pink roses. Little Carrie looked sweet in her dainty white dress holding erect a large red rose with the ring concealed in its chalice. The groom and best man wore the usual dark suits.

Many useful, beautiful presents, including linen, china, glassware, silver and pictures, were received.

The wedding was a charming one in every particular. The bride has spent her whole life here and was a social favorite and a faithful worker in her church where she will be greatly missed. The groom is also well and favorably known here.

Mr. and Mrs. Henderson left on the evening train for their future home in Jefferson City, Mo. Best wishes for long and happy life accompany them.

Haven Weekly Journal
Haven, Reno County, Kansas
Saturday, September 19, 1903
page – 1 *** column – 3

<

Green Henderson in MS

Found this message from Pauline Felts 1997 which definitely relates to my search:

I am looking for information on Green b. 6/1871 and Dora b. 10/1874 HENDERSON. They are listed on the Bolivar County 1920 census with their children Frank, Lucile, Sample, Sadie, Shuford, Bishop, and Alfred. In the 1920 they were living on the SMITH and LOMBARD Plantation. In the 1900 census they were living in Panola County MS and the following are listed: Green, Dora, Sample b. 12/1892, Virgie b. 2/1895, Idel b. 8/1896, Ethan b. 9/1899. In the 1870 census Green is listed as 9. His mother is Eliza aged 27 and a maid. Green's father may have been William. They may have lived on property owned by J. D. WOODRUFF of South Carolina. The only relatives that I know from my father's family is him Green(named after his grandfather), his sister, Louise, and a first cousin, Leonard ROBERSON. How can I find out more information about Green and Dora HENDERSON and whether they are related in some way to the WOODRUFF family. Some of my family members are so fair skinned that it hard to determine that they are black. I am trying to trace the family back either to slavery or my white ancestors. Also I am trying to find any of the descendants of Green and Dora HENDERSON's children. Anyone related or willing to help in any way please e-mail me at tomhudso@sprynet.com.(Expired)

My father, James Sanders HENDERSON(b.3/24/1922), is the son of Ethan HENDERSON(b.1899) and Mattie Hoskins(b.1905). Per their marraige certificate (m. 9/18/1921) and my father's birth certificate, Ethan's name is also spelled Ether, Ethel and Ehtel.

Ethan reportedly moved to Missouri to begin a new life 3 months before my father was born. My dad, however, did keep in contact with his aunts and uncles somewhat over the years.

So, Pauline, I hope you can find me!

Any information would be a delight!

James Cunningham HENDERSON

Hi, I am researching descendants of James Cunningham HENDERSON (1813-1817 born in PARTON), house painter from CASTLE DOUGLAS & Christina MUIRHEAD (1826-1883 from ? BUITTLE). They had the following children Agnes Jane (1851-?), Elizabeth (1854-1859), William (1856-1907), Christina (1859-?), Mary (1863-1881) & Elizabeth (Lizzie) (1862-?).

I'm looking for information on Frank Henderson born about 1887 supposedly in Canadian, Hemphill, Texas. He was married to Addie Lee McCuistion around 1912 and had three children, Ruth Vivian, Frank Lee and Firn Dale. Ruth and Frank were born in Canadian, Hemphill, Texas. Firn was born in Fort Scott, Kansas in 1918. Frank and Addie split-up when Firn was six weeks old. I'm not sure where they were when this happened as the family moved around a lot.
I know nothing about Frank Henderson except that his middle name could have been Aaron. In the 1930 census Addie is remarried to Paul Wendorff and has two children by him. Firn and Ralph's last name is listed as Arter. Firn told me this is because her mother used her real father's middle name so I'm confused as to what his real middle name was. Ruth was not with the family in 1930 because she had married Clinton James Morrison when the family had moved to Arizona to live near Addie's father, Thomas McCuistion.
I also know that Frank Henderson worked at the round house at the train tracks cleaning when he lived in Fort Scott, Kansas.
Does anyone have any information on Frank Henderson?

I am looking for any information in regards to James Henderson. He was born in England, approximately 1819, and later immigrated to America (dates unknown). He fought in the Civil War, probably for the confederacy as he lived in or around Virgina at the time. This also means he was in America before 1861. James lived to be about 90 years old and had five children, one of which is my grandfather Jerry Henderson b. 1894. (Yes! James was in his 70s when Jerry was born!) The other children's names were Jake (Jacob?) David (possibly John David), Stella and Betty. I have scraped these bits together from my famliy but its still very sketchy. I'm interested in learning more about his Civil War service and family connections in England. Thanks in advance for any information provided.

Donald Henderson & Ann Aitchison > George, b 23 Jan 1875, Scotland m Alice Victoria Harrald, Ontario Canada

My name is Lois Kirby Parry.
If you are a descendant of George Henderson, who married Alice Victoria Harrald,in Ontario Canada, I have a lot of family information for you + I may have a picture of George Henderson as a teenager. He was born 23 January 1875 in Dunns Berwickshire Scotland to Donald Henderson, shoemaker, and Ann Aitchison.
I have his birth record, from a year and a half ago; I just found his marriage record, and his death record this week. I also have his military record for WW 1 which I also found this week. All these items add up. I just discovered him about 1 1/2 years ago, when I was doing some family history for my Dad.
This particular George Henderson is either an Uncle or a brother to my Grandfather, John Henderson Kirby, who was born in Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland, in 1880 to a lady named Violet Henderson.
I have a lot more information about the pedigree of the Hendersons and the Aitchisons.

Thank You.

Lois K. Parry

Henderson's In Virginia Late 1600's

Start with the Battle of Bothwell Bridge. William Henderson fought in 1679 against the Church of England and was captured as a POW and banished to the America's. The ship "Crown of London" crashed. 50 Plus survived, William was listed a POW #100. There is a list of survivors, however it is incomplete as many did not want to disclose their names once in America. Augusta County VA has an early role of surnames from that period and its reads like a muster role of the POW's from that ship. That's where its fuzzy... In 1701 a William Henderson was born in Augusta County (could be the former William's son)... Thats where I am. In nearby Lexington, Va, my son David and I found the grave of Thomas Henderson and Anna Marie Henderson and their daughter Sara Henderson. (Stonewall Jackson cemetary about 20 yards from Stonewall's tomb)... Sara married F.H. Smith (one of the founders of the Virginia Military Institute - VMI 1839)... Anyway, I am still digging around for connections... Also, found in Columbus, Kansas (where I was born) a stone: :John Henderson Company F 3rd Indiana Regiment... Presumbaly a relative...

James Henderson of Manistee, Michigan in 1887

Thursday, October 20, 1887 Page 11

Minnie Demorse, adopted daughter of James Henderson, was arrested last week Tuesday at Manistee for larceny committed several months ago, but the real sensation in the case has just come to light.

This spring Mr. Henderson's cow died, and her milk just previous to her death killed nine pigs. The girl confesses she poisoned the cow because she did not want to milk it. Mr. Henderson's house was set on fire five times in one day a few weeks ago, and the girl confesses she did that, too.

Mr. Henderson's baby died suddenly, and the girl confesses she smothered it because it cried and she did not want the trouble to care for it. She is 18 years old, and was adopted 15 years ago.

I am not related to this family, just passing on this information which comes from a website called "Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan Newspaper Birth, Marriage and Death Notices." The link for the site is listed below.
Joyce

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/%7Ewjmartin/deat1887...
