My G Grandfather, Samuel Hendren was born abt 1806 in Markethill, Armagh. I suspect his father was James, son of John Hendren (Hendron) a farmer from Mullabrack. James was apparently a brother of the Rev Samuel Hendren whose two sons went to Australia.

Any information on this line would be most appreciated.

Looking for information on Matthew Hendren who arrived through Ellis Island on Dec 4, 1921. He was travelling with his grandfather, Thomas Hendren and an uncle, Charles Hendren. They were from Coatbridge, Scotland and travelled from Glasgow, Scotland with a final destination of Highland Park, Michigan.
Young Matthew was about 5 years old upon arrival and first born of parents James and Jane Hendren who stayed behind in Coatbridge.
Grandfather Thomas was joining his daughter, Margaret Coleman and her husband Patrick Coleman in Highland Park, MI.
Does anyone have any ties to these Hendrens? My mother-in-law would be a sister to that young Matthew and is now living in the States and would like to find out more of Matthew's family if possible.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A list of casualties, both deaths and injuries, has been placed online at http://www.genealogybuff.com/ucd/webbbs_config.pl?read=392 along with a transcription of the news article.
Hendren/McLean, Wilkes Co, NC c. 1880

My grandfather, Jesse, and his brother, Ernest,
were born "McLean" in 1883 and 1881 respectively
in No. Wilkesboro. They were raised by their
maternal grandmother (a Hendren), and ended up with
her last name. I am looking for anyone with
information about the parents of Jesse and Ernest
and their connection with the William Hendren Jr.
(1779-1868) clan, most of whom left North Carolina, but 3-5
(out of 18) children: Oliver, James Russell, Stephen,
Solomon, and perhaps a daughter or two, stayed in Wilkes Co.
I would also like to find out about the McLean link, about
which I have no information other than that, apparently,
there was a legal marriage, since the boys were originally
listed as "McLeans" and only afterwards ended up as
"Hendrens."

Thanks,
Ken Hendren
njhend@netvision.net.il

JANIE
I HAVE CHECKED MY RECORDS AND CAN NOT REALLY POSITIVELY PINPOINT WHO THE PARENTS FOR YOUR ELLEN HENDREN WHO MARRIED BROTHERS WERE HOWEVER BY WAY OF SUGGESTING A DIRECTION YOU MIGHT FIND SOME SUCCESS WITH MAY I SUGGEST THAT A FELIX HENDREN BORN IN 1838 CAME OVER TO AMERICA WITH WIFE MARY ANN HAMILL,BOTH WERE BORN IN IRELAND,
THEY RAISED 12 CHILDREN HERE , I HAVE THE NAMES OF ONLY 8 OF THEM,THEY SETTLED IN THE ST LOUIS,MO AREA AND MOST OF THEM STAYED THERE,HOWEVER THERE IS A VERY GOOD CHANCE THAT ONE OF THE 4 UNKNOWN CHILDREN ON MY RECORDS COULD HAVE BEEN YOUR ELLEN WHO YOU HAVE FOUND IN MOBERLY,MO,ITS NOT THAT FAR AWAY,
SUGGEST YOU PURSUE YOUR RESEARCH IN THE ST LOUIS,MO AREA FOLLOWING THE FAMILY OF FELIX HENDREN AND MARY ELLEN HAMILL,
WITH THE SPOUSE HAVING A MIDDLE NAME OF ELLEN THERE IS A VERY GOOD CHANCE SHE NAMED ONE OF THE UNKNOWN NAMES TO ONE OF THE UN-NAMED CHILDREN SHE AND FELIX HAD,
GOOD LUCK IN YOUR SEARCHING,
JOHN HENDRON

Who was Downing Howell Hendren?

New to this bit of research.
My uncle provided me with some information he had that states Downing Howell Hendren (b. 1754, d. 1810 - Norfolk VA) was the son of John Hendren (b. 1735, d. 1822, VA) and Mildred Bryant (b. 1734, d.? VA).
However, I've been finding information that indicates Downing Howell Hendren was the BROTHER of the aforementioned John Hendren and the son of William Esial Hendren (b. 1712 N. Ireland, d. 1768 VA) and Annorah Howell (b. 1719 N. Ireland, d. 1765 VA).
Any insight?
Thanks much.
Joe Hendren
Minneapolis, MN

Help! Ideas, Tips, Where do I look now?????

I am trying to find my g grandmother. I have found her marriage record which states her name as Ellen Hendrin from Moberly, MO in 1884, spouse is Charles H. Brothers from St. Louis. I have a death certificate on my grandfather, her son, which lists her name as Hendren, but she was also deceased at the time this info was given and I don't know who gave it. I know her parents were from Ireland. This is all I have. I cannot find her on a census as Hendrin or various spellings, or as Brothers. I cannot find a death certificate on her, even though I know where she died, Benton, MO approx. 1929. I have checked Ancestry records and cannot find any info there. Due to a fire, there are no family Bibles, records, etc. I don't know where else to look. Does anyone have any ideas for me? I appreciate any tips!

Thanks!
Hi all, I am looking for the parents of A.E. Hendren of Wilkes, NC. My great grandparents were Marcus Leander Gilreath and Thenia Lavenia (Venie) Hendren. Venie's father was Ambrose Enzer (A. E.) Hendren (per his family Bible) and was born in 1835. His wife was Charlotte Matilda (also a Hendren??). I have seen some family trees with Stephen Hendren (one of a set of twins) as his father. However, if anyone has a definitive source for this, please let me know. Those Hendrens were multiplying like crazy! so it's hard to tell which parents belong to which kids.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. You can e-mail me directly at gnestor@smyrnacable.net. Thanks!
Does anyone have any info on a James Hendren who was married to and had a child with Mary Elizabeth Sprinkles in the 1920s? I have been researching my family and found that James was convicted in 1927-1928 of the murder of James Sprinkles in Marion Co. Ky.
James Sprinkles was at that time his father-in-law. James Hendren was given ten years and Mary Elizabeth had died under suspicious circumstances just one month prior to James Sprinkles murder. I have found out that they had a child and I was trying to find out if anyone knew what had happened to him? Any help greatly appreciated!
Scott

My grandfather, Gregory Wansley, lived in Jackson Mississippi. He was one of 13 children. His father was Augusta Wansley. Gregory is buried in Tegnall, Ga. in the Wansley cemetary. There is a Wansley Crossing in Ga. I believe. Has anyone ever heard they were related to a Gregory Wansley?
Diane

I think the particular branch of Hendrens and Clouds I'm searching for came through the following tree:
William B Hendren Born 31 Mar 1776 Shenandoah Co VA Died 3 Feb 1826 Franklin Co OH Married 12 Jun 1805 in VA (Father: William Hendren Jr, Mother: Priscilla Oldham)

Spouse: Nancy Cloud Born 15 Jan 1787 VA Died 24 Jan 1848 Franklin Co OH (Pasrents: Father Daniel Cloud and Mother Nancy Jennings).

Children:
#1:Thomas Cloud Hendren Born 21 Nov 1806? Franklin Co OH, Died 27 Jan 1870 Franklin Co. OH, Spouse: Mary Turner, Married: 23 May 1830 Franklin Co OH.
#2: Louisa Hendren Born 1808 Franklin Co OH
#3: Daniel Cloud Hendren Born 1810 Franklin Co OH
#4: Samuel C. Hendren Born 29 Sep 1812 Franklin Co OH Spouse: Helen Norris?, Married 9 Jul 1848.
#5:William Hendren Born 1814 Franklin Co OH
#6: Mordacai Hendren Born 11 Apr 1817 Franklin Co OH Died 25 Sep 1823 Franklin Co OH
#7: Isaac Hendren Born 5 Sep 1818 Franklin Co OH Died 2 Oct 1818 Franklin Co OH
#8: Sarah Ann Hendren Born 18 Dec 1818? Franklin Co OH Died 2 Oct 1830 Franklin Co OH
#9: Robert Hendren Born 1822 Franklin Co OH Died 1884 Franklin Co OH.

My particular Hendrens start with a William Hendren, no info, and on down to a Robert E. Hendren from Columbus OH who married a Matilda Wharton. One son was a Daniel Cloud Hendren who married a Pansy Argo. One of their children was a Daniel Leroy Hendren known to have been born in 1902 and died in 1963. One can only guess on his known families birth info but high prob they were bown in OH. It is poss #9 child above Robert Hendren Born 1822 could be the Robert E. Hendren I'm looking for. If not, then Robert E. would most assuredly be the child of one of the above nine. They are known to have been associated with the following states: OH, MO, OK, AR and TX. Let me know what info you have that can fill in the above branches and thanks, Rick.

HENDREN _ Louise, died February 5, 2000, age 82.

Vancouver Sun 2000 Feb 9 Obits, Vancouver, B.C., Canada

Deaths (02/09/00) HENDREN _ Louise. In loving memory of Louise who passed away after a valiant struggle on February 5, 2000 at the age of 82. Louise was born and raised in Vancouver and is survived by her sons Larry and Neil; daughter-in-law Alison and granddaughters Dara and Cari. Louise's legacy was her instinctive love and fascination of children, demonstrated in her devotion as a pre school teacher for over 30 years. She was highly respected as an individual and teacher in Richmond where she resided for 45 years. Louise was also a very giving soul who placed family and others' interests ahead of herself. Her outlook and philosophy of life always remained open, contemporary, and unbiased to society's ever-changing values and cultural diversity. We will all miss her very much and her loving spirit remains with us for eternity. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. Vancouver Sun, Area Code 604
