We have 2 male Hendrick men, both Lees or Lee Roy, one born in ca. 1890 and other one in Sept. 1919, and are trying to locate a living male Hendrick descendant to have DNA tests done so we can find out which MALE Hendrick we descend from.
All we have now is his last name and that he was from GEORGIA, and married a NANCY, and they have 2 children, Lee Roy (1866), and Francis/Frances K. Hendrick, who married a FORD. Both Lee's above descend from this Lee born in 1866 in either MO. or AR.
The first Lee R., born in 1890 descends from a JAMES MERRAN Hendrick, died 1943 in CA.; and the 2nd one, Lee R. Hendrick, born in 1919, is married to a Dorothy and has at least 1 child, and died in 1943-46 in either OK. or MO.

Hendrick family of Deer Isle Maine

I am interested in establishing the lineage of the Deer Isle, Maine, Hendrick family line. The line has been traced to the current generation living in Thomaston and Camden Maine, through Richard Melvin (b 1888 d 1969), James D. (b 1858 d ), Christopher (b ca 1811 d 1869), to James Hendrick.
James Hendrick was married to Hanna Gray and had two sons, Christopher and Stillman. James has not been located in available records for Deer Island or Hancock County Maine.
I would like to establish contact with a living male descendent of this line to discuss willingness to participate in the Hendrick/Hendricks/Hendrix DNA project.
Research conducted to date on this family will be shared.
Rod ~ Thanks for the reply anyway! I knew that LA. called them parishes instead of counties but had forgotten. Maybe too much lake water in my brain since we'd just returned from Tenkiller! I just moved from E. Tx. 2 years ago so am somewhat familiar w/the state. Sure wish you'd had something to tell me about who Nancy, born in 1832 and died in 1900, married, and something about him. He obviously left her w/quite alot of personal belongings and property in Ar., because the 2 Hendrix/Hendrick(s) children were awarded a guardian in the amount of $1200 each child, in 1872 and if guardian didn't live up to the agreement in guardianship, he would pay the children all monies owed them in this amount, or $2400.
YET, I can find no property so far in that state and Nancy ends up marrying one of the guardians then they are soon divorced, so I'm trying to find land in his name that he may have taken from her. She supposedly couldn't speak much English, only an Indian language, so I'm assuming Choctaw since the Choctaw tribes came through LA. and into OK. and Ar. where she lived. The Hendricks man could have been a James or William instead of R. W. or W.R. because this is what Nancy's only son named their firsborn son; of course this could just be a co-incidence. Surname posssibilities other than Hoggatt could be RYAN, ROSS, CARTWRIGHT, COLLINS, MOODY.
Thanks Rod, and just maybe I'll eventually know more about my Hendricks over time.
Wilkes County, GA Hendrick migration to Shelby County, TX 1892

The specific information I'm looking for pertains to the Hendrick family. Rev. James William (Bill)Hendrick, with his wife Mattie Shepherd and other Wilkes County families moved to Shelby County, Texas in 1892. The families flourished and descendants still populate the county. Bill and Mattie were married in Wilkes County in 1875 with children being born by 1880. By the time they moved, they had several children born in GA, presumably Wilkes County. But I can't find them on the 1880 census and the 1890 doesn't exist. I know Bill's dad's name was James Hendricks and Bill's mother's name was Sallie Clemmons. Mattie's father was Joseph Shepherd and her mother was Nancy Seal. Bill was born 18 Mar 1854. Mattie was born 11 Apr 1857.

If anyone is researching this line, I have much information about the descendants of Bill and Mattie, but need information on their ancestors.

Thanks in advance for any help. Thanks.

I am trying to locate any information on the following family. This family lived in the area of Bowling Green Kentucky and is recorded in the 1880 census as living on their farm in the Goshen District of Warren County.

John W. Hendrick - b. abt. 1837 - KY.
Spouse: Elizabeth - b. abt. 1843 - KY.

Children:

Porterfield (Porter) Hendrick - b. 1862
Robert W. (R.W.) Hendrick - b. 1864
William N. Hendrick - b. 1866
John E. Hendrick - b. 1869
Emma Hendrick - b. February 1, 1872
Dee Hendrick - b. 1874
Albert Hendrick - b. 1876
Angeline Hendrick - b. 1878
Alexander (Alex) Hendrick - b. February 1880

John W. Hendrick appears on the 1860 census in Warren County KY., and probably married Elizabeth ? in Warren County sometime prior to about 1862. The only other information that I have re this family is that all of the children were born in Warren County.

If you can offer any additional information, research advice, or even a good guess, it would be greatly apprediated.
Thanks ~ Judy

Rev. Elisha T. HENDRICK & Georgia Ann LOVINGOOD - Cherokee/Polk Co., Georgia

Looking for further information on the Rev. Elisha T. HENDRICK (Nov. 21, 1856 - Aug. 1, 1891) and his wife Georgia Ann LOVINGGOOD (Apr. 19, 1861 - Jan. 8, 1928), both buried at Bascomb Methodist Church, Woodstock, Cherokee, Georgia. I have only two children listed for them, but believe they had at least 4, according to an Atlanta Journal Constitution article on their daughter, Miss Minnie HENDRICK, a teacher in Rockmart, Georgia in the early to mid-1900's.

Besides, Minnie HENDRICK, their only daughter, they had 3 sons, one of whom was named Claude HENDRICK. Do any of these names ring a bell for anyone?

Miss Minnie HENDRICK was a teacher in the Polk County, Georgia school system and in the Rockmart system. The article featured in the AJC was dated June 9, 1955 and spoke of her retirement after 50 years on the job.

Please email me directly if you have any further information, pictures, etc. on any of this HENDRICK family or their descendants. I will be happy to share what I have and anything further on the LOVINGGOOD line.

Thank you!
Karla
Georgia

History of William Hendrick

My grandfather, William Hendrick (born 1845, Warren Co, KY) was married twice. I am a decendent of his second marriage (to Minnie Rhoades, 1912). I am curious, though, about the children of his first marriage (to Permela Hood, 1870). William and Permela had eight children between the years 1871 and 1893. By 1915, after William's death, when my grandmother filed a pension application, all but one of William and Permela's offspring were dead. I'm curious about how and why they died, and whether anyone knows where these people are buried.

I am trying to trace my direct paternal line. Most of Dad's family settled in Crestline, Galion, and Shelby, Ohio. Before that, it looks like the Leppert's were from Baden, Germany. My father was Alan Leppert, son of Bernard, son of Joseph, son of Anton, son of Ernard. Afraid the line stops there...
My grandmother was Frances Helen Metzger. Hope that this info rings some bells. Any help is appriciated, Thanks!
PS didn't realize there are so many of us Lepperts running around out there!

Moses Hendrick's Obituary

Bowling Green (MO) Times, Thursday, February 24, 1881 (in part): "Very Sudden Death of an Old Citizen. Our town was shocked yesterday by the announcement of the very sudden death of Mr. Moses Hendrick, one of its oldest and most honored citizens. Mr. Hendrick had been a sufferer from a cancer on the side of his head but his death was caused from heart disease. He was born near Nashville, Tennessee in 1806, but while an infant his parents moved to Logan Co. Kentucky where they resided until he was about 10 years old, when he came with his parents to this place. September 15, 1829, he was married to Amanda Daniels who now survives him. They had six children - 4 daughters and 2 sons, one of whom, Henry Clay, died in 1861. The daughters are all married and living in the county; his son, "Jimmie" who has been greatly afflicted of late, is at home with his mother. His remains were taken to Concord cemetery."

(I am not related to this person - Gerri)

The earliest I have found them is the 1970 Census. According to census records he would have been born in New York along with his wife Catherine. They both died in Constantia. I also found that 2 of his sons would have been born in Massachusetts between 1957 and 1960 (according to census records). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Joseph C. Hendrick-Campbell Co. Va 1838

I have a indentured servant contract dated and signed by one Joseph C. Hendrick (12 November 1838). Mr. Hendrick is purchasing the indenture of a boy of 12 named Washington Jenkins. I am trying to locate descendants of Wash. Jenkins so I can get this document to them, however there may be none. The contract says Wash. is of "weak and imbecile mind." The same could be said of me but I managed to have 3 children. I don't know if Washington did. If anyone can prove to me that they are a descendant of this Joseph C. Hendrick, I will make a photo copy of the document and send it to them. If I can find no living descendants of Washington Jenkins, I will sell this document to a descendant of Joseph C. Hendrick (You must give me some sort of proof). I gave $45 for this on ebay and will sell for the same ( I will send a copy of the cashier's check that shows what I payed). I am not trying to make a dollar here, would just like to see some blood kin of one of these men get this document. If not Washington Jenkins the white slave, than Joseph C. Hendrick the white slave master.

February 1880

John W. Hendrick appears on the 1860 census in Warren County KY., and probably married Elizabeth Harrington in Tennessee or in Warren County KY sometime prior to about 1862. The only other information that I have re this family is that all of the children were born in Warren County.

If you can offer any additional information, research advice, or even a good guess, it would be greatly apprediated.
Thanks ~ Judy

Eliz. Hendricks & Bedford Thomas of Hardeman & Haywood co. TN

I am looking for a Hendricks/Hendrix. My 3rd G-grandmother was Elizabeth J. Hendricks born 7 Oct 1831 in Hardeman co. TN died 7 Feb 1887, buried in the Harmony Baptist Church Cem. in Haywood co. In the 1880 census it shows she was born in TN & both parents born in VA.
On the 12 Jan 1849 in Hardeman co. she married Bedford Thomas who was born 12 Jul 1826 in either TN or NC and died 21 Sep 1899.
Elizabeth & Bedford appear in the 1850 Hardeman co. census. Living nearby is a widowed Mary E. Hendrix born about 1808 in VA with children:
Branch,Ann,Martha E.F.,Harrison,Sarah,Henry, & Margaret. Also living nearby is a James J. Thomas who married a Nancy E. Hendrick in 1847 & their 2 children Sarah C. Thomas & Sakilda/Lakilda.
Curiously, there is a marriage between a John Hendrix, born about 1803 in VA who died between 1846-1850 in Hardeman county, and an Elizabeth Morgan on the 25 Oct 1828 in Hardeman co.
In regards to Bedford Thomas, I have a suspicion that his parents might be Daniel Thomas of NC,who died in Hardeman co. in 1842 & Zilla Atkins who died there in 1860. A widowed Zellah Thomas is in the 1850 Hardeman co. census. Bedford's 1880 census info notes his parents were born in NC and he had a daughter named Zillar.
Sound familiar to anyone?
Ann Hendrick

The Death Notice in Cape Town Archives shows Ann Hendrick as born in the Cape of Good Hope, but the family legend is that she came from Holland as a young, pregnant girl in search of her lover who had preceeded her to this country, and whom she did not find. Her son was William Henry Hendrick who married Georgina Maria Myers or Meyer. Confusingly, two Hendrick women, Edith and Jean, are in the same family grave as William and Georgina, and of about the same age. No Death Notices as yet found for them. All died in early 1900s. Any help in scaling this brick wall would be most welcome. Go well! Ivy Trott in South Africa.
this

Hendrick Family in MI and NY

Hello. I'm attempting to find information about the Hendrick side of my family as a gift to my elderly father, George. He (and therefor, we) know little about his grandfather Burtis Hendrick or Burtis's parents Edmund and Sarah. Edmund and Sarah apparently migrated to Michigan from New York state. Edmund may have been a carpenter as I have a nice carpenter's tool (a marking guage) with his name on it. Edmund and Sarah had three sons: Burtis, also a carpenter, born July 21, 1860 probably in Plymouth, MI; Charles and Herbert E. Burtis married Helen "Byrd" VanPelt with whom he had two sons, Laurence and Archie, my grandfather. Burtis and Helen settled in Muskegon, MI where they died and are buried. Burtis's brother Charles lived in the Flint, MI area, worked in the auto industry and had a son named Paul and perhaps an adopted daughter. His wife may have been named Ida. The third brother, Herbert, married Alice Rousell (sp). Their son Clyde was a well known realtor in western, MI (Grandhaven/Muskegon) area. Any information or leads will be deeply appreciated. Thank you.

HENDRICK Family Photograph

I've "rescued" an old photograph of Bertha HENDRICK which was taken at the Ingalls Studio in Glens Falls, New York. I would guess that the photograph was taken in the 1890's and that Bertha was probably 5-6 years old at the time it was taken. The photograph was recovered along with others which belong to the TRASK, HAMILTON, CHASE, BARBER, MASTIN, SLOAN, BURDICK and HAYNES Families from Oneonta, NY; Norwich, NY; and Walton, NY;

I was hoping to locate someone from this family so that this wonderful old photograph could be returned to the care of family, however, I was unsuccessful so I have passed the photograph to the Northeastern New York Genealogical Society in hopes that they might be able to locate family. If you are a member of this family I'd suggest that you contact them regarding the photograph.

Thanks,
Shelley
