Do you have a Heneka/Henika/Hennika from the Banat Region in your family research? If yes, chances are, we're related! I've traced my roots back to the 1700's where Johanne Hanneker (yet another spelling for Henika) registered in Vienna as being from Lichtringhausen, nwv Attendorn/Saul. He was given house #28 on the Sauer Gasse in Hatzfeld in the Banat Region. Some of his decendants still live in Hatzfeld, along with several surrounding villages (Johannisfeld, etc)

On 16.Dec 1907 My great grandfather, Nikolaus HENIKA came to America at the age of 18. He stated he was joining his Uncle, Ludwig LOSCH at 1035 Struet St. in Cinn. OH. His father, Lepold Henika was still living at 1600 Hatzfeld at the time.

Nikolas got married in 1915 in Cinn. Oh to Catherina Kremer who was from Heufeld. They had 5 children: Anna in 1915, Joseph (my grandfather) in 1916, Catherine in 1918 were all born in Cinn. OH, They then had Lena in 1920 and Nicholas in 1922 in Michigan.

Nikolas' sister also came to America on April 30, 1907. Her name is Katherine. She married Paul Potzick abt. 1910 in Cinn. OH. They had 4 children: Paul in 1910, Frank in 1913, John in 1917 and Anthony in 1919. I'm still trying to track down all of the decendants from this line.

Nikolas & Katherine Henika had two other siblings: Anna born in 1895 and Borbola in 1892. I've been unable to discover where they are. Did they stay in Hatzfeld, move to Germany as so many others did, or come to America as well?

Thier parents were Lipolt Henika b. Oc. 05.10.1859 in Hatzfeld & Borbala Krutch b. 14.02.1865 Hatzfeld. Lipolt came to America on 20.08.1913 as a widower. He listed he was going to see his son-in-law, Paul Potick at 1542 Blum in Cinn.OH.

So, if you have any Henika/Hennika's in your family that are from Cinn. OH, Germany, or the Banat area, chances are we're related and I hope to hear from you!
