Andrew Henning was born in 1850 at Ettel West Phala (sic.), Germany, where he grew to manhood. In the year 1882, his brother, John, and he came to America and built a home. In 1884, he returned to the Old Country where he married Mary [aka: Marie/Maria] Voss on February 12, 1885. He retunred with his bride the same year and working as stone mason. After 2 years, he purchased a farm north east of Adrian where he lived until he passed away October 4, 1931. Their children were: Catherine (Mrs. Herman Althoff), Joseph, John, William, Herman, Henry, Charles, Frank, Clara (Mrs. Ben Forrette), Teresa (Mrs. Henry Baumgartner), Margaret (Mrs. Conrad Polley). Andrew Henning experienced all the hardships of pioneer life.

Joseph Voss, Sr., his wife, Katherine (Ploeger), and their nine children: Marie (Henning), Herman, Frances (Conzemus), Henry, Josephine (Heck), John, Albert, Joe, Catherine (Paulsen) came to this country from Etteln-Paterborn, Germany, landing in New York about 1884. They homesteaded on a farm in Larkin Township. The children lived in the St. Kilian and Wilmont areas for a number of years, some later moving to various parts of Minnesota, with the exception of Marie (Mrs. Andrew Henning) and Albert, who made Lismore their home. Albert returned to Germany in 1896, married Bertha Tenge of Owenhausen, German, on April 27, 1897, and returned to this area. They lived on a farm four miles north of Lismore in Leota Township, and raised ten children: Joe, Robert, Albert, Ed, Clarence, Anna, Margaret (Hebig), Mathilda (Johnson), Agnes (Kellen), Cecilia (Thompson). They continued farming until their retirement in 1953 when they moved to a home in Lismore. Albert Voss died March 27, 1958, at the age of 86. His wife, Bertha, died April 12, 1972, at the age of 93.
