Surnames: Henning, Wiemer
Started doing my genealogy again, I know this posting is several years old but thought I would give it a try.
I have a Frederick that died in World War I also he actually died of blood poisoning. His parents were Henry Henning & Rebecca Wiemer. Is this the same as yours and if so would like to exchange any information if possible.
thanks in advance
Shawn
here is a newspaper clipping of Fred Henning:
Memorial Services for Soldier Boys
The people of Utica and the surrounding country gathered Monday evening to pay their last respects to the soldier boys who have died in the service of their country. Rev. Alexander read a short obituary notice for each of the four young men who are represented on the service flag by a gold star, Reinhard Poeppelmeier, Fred Hennings, Cornell Arendt and John Fehlhafer, and afterwards spoke at length on the sacrifices these young men have made for thier country. At the opening of the services "Old Glory" was raised while the band played "The Star Spangled Banner" and the home guards stood at present arms. Music was furnished by the band and a chorus led by Mrs. F.E. Bishop. To close the service "taps" were sounded by the home guards.
