John F. "Jack" Henricks

John F. "Jack" Henricks was born May 10, 1914 in Palmyra, Mich. to Mark and Laura Henricks, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on April 8, 2004. He was predeceased by his sister Ginny and his granddaughter Kathy McWherter. He is survived by his wife, J. Elizabeth ("Betty") Henricks, son DeWitt Henricks, daughter Lauranne McWherter, stepdaughter Sandra Bilyeau, stepdaughter and son-in-law Gina and Bruce Kesler, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Jack spent much of his youth in the Michigan area. He was active in sports, did some traveling, served in the military and eventually moved to Southern California. He owned and operated a successful business, Center Carpet Service, for many years.

Jack and his wife, Betty, often visited Lake Isabella, loved the area and decided to retire to Wofford Heights in the 1970s. They soon decided to reopen Center Carpet Service, which still operates today under the control of their good friends and wonderful caregivers, James Kelly and Sandra Kennington.

Jack and Betty became well known and respected in the community not only as successful business owners but also for their active involvement in many community and civic organizations. They were active members and Jack served as president of both the Wofford Heights Improvement Group and the Douglas El Segundo Rod and Gun Club, where they spent many busy and happy hours with family and friends. They were also members of the Elks Club, the Loyal Order of Moose and the VFW.

Jack loved sports and the great outdoors. He was at one time an avid golfer and loved to camp and fish. In recent years he still made occasional trips to the lake to fish and enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball and his beloved Angels. Jack was greatly admired by all who knew him. He possessed an amazing strength of will, a kind and courageous heart and a strong spirit. He was much loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 17 at 10 a.m. at the chapel at Lake Isabella Valley Mortuary. A reception will follow after the ceremony and information and directions will be provided at the service.
