Hello Priscilla,
Thanks for the information re: Henriksson. The three brothers I have lost (great uncles) had an older brother living in rural Alma Center, WI at the turn of the century. I don't believe he ever lived in Brainard. He died in the '20 from a home sawmill accident. The family, or some of the brothers may have lived in Cokato, at first, just after emigrating. Have you tried the county museusm's records in Barinard. The population was never very great in the area so it should be rather easy to isolate.
John Henriksson had a frequent visitor from Dalarna province in Sweden by the name of John (I belive it was John) Alt. None ever visited from Finland that I'm aware of.
In Dalarna Sweden, many families had "farm" names or gårdnamnet I believe it is in Swedish. Since their last names kept changing as each generation took the first name of the father and added the "son" or "dotter" to it, it was difficult to keep up. That's how I finally found my lost (100+ years) relatives in Sweden. The farm name took me right to the village. Henriksson's was Knuters.
Don't know if any of this is any help, but as you say, long shots…if I can help, just shout.
Good Luck!
