I believe Edward was born April 1886 and married a Nettie here married abt 4yrs, then I find a WW draft card on him in Voluisa , Fl followingnyrs with a wife named Ruth and daughter Elleanor.
Frank O. I believe was born in 1903, lived herein 1920, 1930. Have him in census records with daughter Belle Irene.
However no wife is ever listed.
Believe Frank moved to Voluisa, Fl and died in Nov 1994.

Looking for anyone related to these lines, so that I may confirm my what I thinks. And to find what happened to the children of these men.

I thank you fro your time if you read this and for any help sent my way.
James HANDSHAW (Henshaw?) ~alias~ MOODY - Rev. War times

I have seen reference to a James HANDSHAW ~alias~ MOODY listed a couple of times while browsing the internet searching my 5th grt. grandfather James Moody b.c1750.
I have once again stumbled across this name and so am posting this here in case anyone might be able to help me.
This is from the Old United Empire Loyalists List -
Handshaw alias Moody, M. H. District Secret Service
I have seen this man's first name before listed as "James".
I am wondering now however if this might not be the Lt. James Moody who was born in New Jersey to English parents who was the well known Spy for the British during the Rev. War and "Handshaw" may have been a name he used.

This Lt. James Moody removed to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia after the Rev. War and this is why I think this might be him.
Since my 5th grt. grandfather's name is the same - James Moody and since I cannot find anything about his family, I am checking all possibilites which brings me to this page.

I saw a show on PBS about a Henshaw or Handshaw family (show on Genealogy that was Great), who was from Ireland.
My father's ydna does not match to this Lt. James Moody, descendants who have been ydna tested, nor to any other English Moody's (we have 23 English participants so far), but he does match to 2 men who have links to Northern Ireland, which leads me to believe that my James Moody (prob. spelled Moodie or Mudie) came to North America by way of Ulster, Ireland OR directly from Scotland.

If anyone knows anything about this possible "James Moody" or "James Handshaw" from the Rev. War days, I would be most interested to hear about him. So far I've been able to find nothing, unless he is that Lt. James Moody of NJ to Yarmouth, NS, CAN.
Thank You very much.

My grand parents were George Richard Henshaw and Josehpine Martin (Rusk). I never knew George Richard - he was a causualty of the 1918 flu pandemic. My mother was Bobbie Lenel Hendshaw Smith who died at age 85 in 2001. She kept in touch with cousin Hattie and the Vanderber family in Eufaula and she kept up the Henshaw home in Eufaula which is now owned by her oldest son, Richard Vertrees Smith of Oklahoma City. I now reside in Kalamazoo Michigan.

Randy Smith 10/13/06

DNA and Genealogical Research.

DNA AND GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH.
Testing the Y Chromosome DNA is the newest cutting edge in Genealogical Research. With the DNA results along with a paper trail, many participants have been able to break through their brick wall; confirm or eliminate a paper trail they have been researching for years; find new DNA cousins to share genealogical lines with and identify a common grandfather; identify where their direct male line originated and where they traveled for 1,000’s of years; and much more.
The Y Chromosome is passed down from father to son(s) for thousands of years virtually unchanged. If someone matches another person’s Y Chromosome DNA, then they are related especially if they share the same surname. The Y Chromosome is junk DNA in that it contains no information as to your physical being such as hair and eye color, height, left or right handed, bald or not bald, possible disease situations, etc. This information comes from other DNA and is not part of the Y Chromosome. All results are strictly confidential.
Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) is the leading and largest Genealogical Y Chromosome lab in the country. They have 4,576 Surname projects and 113,985 Y DNA records in their data base which is increasing every day. The cost for testing your Y Chromosome is very reasonable and if you test through one of the Surname Projects, there is reduced rate. Their Web Site can be found at: http://www.familytreedna.com/default.aspx
If you have questions or want more information, please feel free to contact me, Dick Allen at: oldbones1@comcast.net or my daughter, Tammy Valdez at: bonedigger@bigfoot.com
My mother was a Henshaw.

Oh thank you so much. My mother gave me a picture of Maurice Glen Jr. with two of her brothers. He is her cousin She does remember him. In the picture he looks about the same age as my uncle Ted who was born in 1932. My mom was born in 1936. They were both born in Hulbert Ok. I'm still trying to connect which side of the family - my grandmother or my grandfather. I'm thinking it is likely to be my grandfather's since since they lived in OK. My Granddfather was James William Wright married to Ada Anna Idonna Churchwell. His parents were William Wright to Oragan Texas Anna Rumsey. My grandmother's parents were John Wesley Churchwell and Ida Staton. Do any of these names sound familiar?

I'm trying to find some information on Samuel Henshaw, born 1661 in Rappohannick, Virginia. He married Keziah Pell. I've found quite a few trees listing Joshua Henshaw (1672) and Elizabeth Sumner (1652) as his parents However, since that would make them 9 and -11 when Samuel was born I'm thinking that either the names or the dates must be wrong.

Anyone have any light to shed on this? I'd really like to find Samuel's parents.

Thanks.

John:

I believe the letter you have is the one dated Boston, January, 1855:
http://www.blueneptune.com/~hinshaw/p04523a.htm

This letter has been often cited as proof of a connection between the MA Henshaws and the VA Henshaws, but it is all based on a single line of the letter which reads:
'John lived at Liecester some time but about the year 1752 removed to Philadelphia. He had several children but what ever became of them I have no account and they have been considered the "Lost Tribe"'.

The letter makes no direct connection between the two family lines. Valley Virginia Henshaw incorrectly concluded that the above sentence referred to the Nicholas Henshaw/Hancher family branch, but in fact the 1752 date is way too late as Nicholas is known to have married in Philadelphia in 1726.

This connection has been extensively discussed on our Henshaw/Hinshaw email list and has been essentially unanimously disregarded as almost certainly an erroneous connection. See:
See:
http://www.blueneptune.com/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/hinshaw/id?209

If you're interested in all the gory detail on our past discussions on Nicholas Henshaw (aka Hancher), you can see the list archives on RootsWeb:
http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl
Enter the name of the list: HINSHAW-L
Do a search on: Nicholas
Most of the discussion on this subject occured in 1998 and 1999. In particular, an informal committee of Henshaw researchers in 1999 published a position paper on the subject - see:
http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ifetch2?/u1/textindice...

However, the letter you have is a valuable bit of Henshaw history that hopefully will be claimed by a descendant for safe keeping.

Jan Hinshaw
hinshaw@blueneptune.com

Hi,

I appreciate your invitation to view your family tree and found it interesting as I've been aware of the "West Nissouri" Henshaws from my search for the family members of George Henshaw (1823-?) I've often wondered if there was a connection between the two families. I haven't been able to find much about George other then locating him and his family in the 1860 US census and that his name was listed on the marriage certificates of his children who, except for one, were all born in London. Have you found a link?

Thanks and best wishes,
Nancy
Hi Carol, good to hear from you. Yes I believe we do have a connection. I believe Mary's brother was Elijah, born 1837-1842. This period is a bit 'fuzzy' in the records and I am only relatively sure of this. I believe Elijah and Mary were the children of William HENSHAW and Mary CHAPMAN. I have tentative links to another 3 generations back. I have a list of about 20 people researching the HENSHAWs. let me know if I can help with anything else. Any letters or facts, however miscellaneous they may seem, will be helpful.

I believe that I know that Valley was in Berkeley Co., WV in 1900, that she and Francis married in Dallas, TX in 1905, that Francis went to Prison from Dallas in 1919 and that Valley died in Lewis Co., WV in 1927.

Any information as to where either were and/or what they were doing from 1900 to 1935 will be appreciated.

Thanks,

jim berry
Winchester, VA
--
Searching BERRY HESSE WALL GEORGE KING STACY VOSSICK FORSTER SCOTT KIRKLAND et al
http://www.langolier.net

Graveyards & Gravestones
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~langolier/cemeterie...

Berry Bibles Project
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~langolier/Berry_Bib...

Berry Family DNA Project
http://tinyurl.com/b9ofz

Berry Family DNA blog
http://berrydna.blogspot.com/

Hi David,

My name is jim berry and am related to Francis Charles Berry who married Valley Virginia Henshaw. I am trying to research that particular family and wondered if you had been successful in obtaining the letters you spoke of? They would be the type of history that could really aid my search.

Thanks,

jim
