My name is Cinthia Sowell.
My great grandmother was Cinthy Emaline Weaver.
She married Lewis F. Sowell.
Cinthy's mother was Sarah Catherine Hensley.
Lewis's mother was Cynthia Ann Goodnight.
Cynthia Ann Goodnight married George Sowell. I know George's mother was Alcy, but I'm not sure who his father was. I think his father is John D. Sowell but, he isn't listed on any census with George. My family came from Tennessee before settling in Arkansas. One family story is... the Tennessee Sowell brother's got into a fight and some went to Arkansas and the others went to Texas. I haven't been able to make the connection to the Texas Sowell's yet. There is also a family story about a family member wanting to fight off the 'jayhawkers'. He pulled his musket loader out from under his bed, and shot himself in the leg and later died from gangrene. My cousin has the musket loader.
Do you have any information, photos, stories or documents about my ancestors that you'd like to share with me?

I am researching my husband's family- He knows very little about his heritage or his family. His father was Frank Norris Hensley,Sr., 02/05/1909 in Logansport, La. and died in Ruston, La. 03/22/1976. Father of FNH was John Hensley,

This is very interesting. Did the Bible belong to Larkin Hensley or to Hickman Hensley & Agness Fisher? Is it now owned to Frank hensley? What info does it have? Names, dates, interesting info on various people? Do you have the Bible now, and if so, how did it come to you? Through many generations? William was the son of Charles Taylor & Ekizabeth. William & Ann's dau Lucy Margaret b abt 1785 marr Michael Tanner 22 Jan 1801 in Madison Co. Michael was the son of Robert Tanner. Have 8 children for Michael & Lucy.
2. Carrie Louise b abt 1925 in Culpeper Co marr Russell Leroy ( Doc ) Johnston 8 Apr 1950. Need Carrie's parents & siblings. He is the son of Walter Ellis Johnston Sr. & Maggie Smith Huffman. Need children for Russell & Carrie.

Have found Charlie Hensley on the 1920 Census for Hancock County, TN. which listed him as 25 yrs. old. His wife was Hattie and 2 daughters were listed Carry abt age 2 and Esther age 2 months. It also said he was born in Tennessee. Would anyone have a clue as to whom his parents were?

His wife's maiden name would've been Hattie Coffey. Any help would be appreciated

Welcome. There were two Bacchus Henseley's running around in the late 1800's. One was born c 1842 the other c 1849, speculation says they may have been cousins. My g-grandfather was the younger Bacchus, who married Delilah McIntosh, they had 3 children: George (my grandfather), Zeb and Lilly.

Bacchus is my Great Great Grandfather. He is my Great Grandmother Maude's father. She married and moved to Cleveland Tennessee where her family still is. I am not positive of the connection but would love to here about it. I am doing some family research and am very interested. Bacchus is also known as the Baron of Bee log. So if you have anything with references to that it is talking about him.

My cousin William Cecil Hensley from Whitetop said that Belvie had two daughters, and that one of them went to live with her sister in Galax right after Belvie's funeral. He got the sister's phone number from one of their cousins and I tried calling a few times but only got answering machines and left msgs that I was calling regarding geneaology research but never received a return call. He's wife (I believe second)
was Delma Denham born 1883 the daughter of Thomas J Denham and Ida Miller in Clay county Indiana, (Brazil)
She was also origanlly marrried to a Silas Wagner (1883-?) in 1905 and
had two children Mary Margrete (1923- ?) and Ralph (1916-?)
She had 2 brothers Earl T (1895-1949)and Melvin J(1891-?)
George Hensley died in Dugger, IN Sullivan County (1889-1967)

Jacob "Jake" Wright and Mary Hensley, Need Information

I am seeking information on the daughter of Jacob "Jake" Wright and Mary Hensley. Jake was born November 1863 in Kentucky and Mary Hensley was born May 1876 in Tennessee. They had a daughter named Mattie Ellen Wright that was born March 1899 in Kentucky or Tennessee. Mattie married for the first time to Reed William Moran on January 3, 1915 in Fulton County, Kentucky. They divorced sometime between 1917-1920. Then Mattie married James Roy Nelson by 1920 as they are listed in the 1920 census.

Mattie Ellen (Wright)(Moran) Nelson died on September 4, 1935 in Fulton County, Kentucky.

If anyone knows anything about this Mattie Ellen Wright I would be grateful to hear from you.

There are several George Washington Hensleys....several born about the same time (1826) in North Carolina...You might better locate your George Hensley searching through your mother's name...she should show up on the US Census as a child of George....good luck.

I am not familiar with either of those names, however, you might check US Census records - Hensleys have been in North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and many other states that I am unaware. Seems like I have heard of a Augustus Hensley that was from Georgia, but I can't recall exactly where. Good luck and if I run across either of those names, I will post the info for you.

Joe A Hensley was the son of John A Hensley,1812, of Lewis CO TN. Wife Emma Campbell was the daughter of Milton Campbell, of Hickman CO and later Lewis CO TN. His father was William Campbell, born 1810 and is listed with his father, as a widow, in the 1850 Hickman CO TN census with son Milton as a child. Milton married Mary Smith, dau of Wiley Smith of Lewis CO TN and is listed with two children...Hite and Emma.

Hello, I am researching my husband's line of Hensley. His g-g-grandfather was Andrew Jackson Hensley (1816-1877) [son of Harmon Hensley and Elizabeth "Betsy" Meekly] who married J.F. On the 1900 US census of Harrison Town, Boone, Arkansas, there is a Bessie B Hensley b Apr 1893 living with Silvester Bryant and Rebecca Hart. The census says that Bessie is Their granddaughter. I was wondering if anyone knows whose daughter she is. The Bryants had two daughters- Laura Belle And Paralee--- Does anyone know if it is one of these two that are Bessie's mother?
