trying to reach margaretg54 at Ancestry about John Heppenstall (b. 1793, Silkstone / Barnsley)... possible sibling of William? Second child of John and Sarah Armitage(b. 1797) Heppenstall was named William (b. 1818); first child, my ascendant, was Edward (b. 1816). Have been trying to trace this family in Yorkshire without any luck but can give information about Edward who came to TX in mid-1800s. Lucy

Yes it does look like they married earlier or were living together. I found a Walter Murfin in 1901 living with wife Mary A. Occupation was boot maker so I don't think its the correct Walter as he was a grinder in the 1861 census.

hi ian, i have 1891 census england shows thomas retired army sarg. age 52 son walter b woolwich kent \with a stepmother maria age 55 she has son john murfin married daughter florence marsden rg12;peice:3789;folio60 page44 ;roll:6098899 looks like he remarried earlier ? do you think ? town wadsley yorkshire thanks for the info re mary hepp ponting , i was thinking she had joined her brothers in pittsburg thats why couldnt find any refs. pam

According to BMD death was registered in South Yorkshire, Yorkshire

Mary Heppenstall(Ponting) died 3rd. quarter 1887 according to BMD. Thomas W. Ponting remarried in 1895 to a Maria Allen or Maria Mintyn.

thanks ,yes you have sent me a reply on this one more than i expected really amazing but now i am trying to track thomas wife mary heppenstall , they had a daughter mary and the lines seem to converge when and where did mary heppenstall ponting die ? i dont think it was ohio u s a i think that was the daughter ?pam urquhart

Thomas W. Ponting was the son of Joseph Ponting and Anne Stevens. I'm not sure if I have responded to this query or not at an earlier time.

My ascendant is Edward Heppenstall from the Silkstone/Barnsley area, b. 1816; parents were John and Sarah Armitage Heppenstall. Edward emmigrated to Texas in the mid-1800s. Any help would be appreciated. Lucy

Debbie Heppenstall was my best friend in third grade, in the early 70's in Allison Park, PA (a Pittsburgh suburb). She moved with her family to Sudbury MA and we lost touch. I haven't seen her in about thirty years; I'd love it if I ever ran across her again. She'd be about 38 or 39 now.

I have records of several Heppenstall families mosly from Yorkshire. Have just traced our correct line back to Silkstone near Barnsley. Have we been in contact before as I now have much more information.
