Charles Caven Herald and James Garry Herald, Canadians from Manitoba

Hello -- I am a music historian researching a Manitoba musician named Charles Caven "Charlie" Herald (1891-1960), who was living in Winnipeg (as he had for decades) at the time of his death in 1960. I am trying to trace his son, also a musician at one time, though I don't believe he was involved in music after World War II, James Garry Herald(he was called Garry). As far as I can tell, Garry was probably born around 1917. He was alive at the time of his father's death, but neither he nor his mother (Emma Herald) appear to have remained in Winnipeg. I can not find any trace of either of them after 1960. I don't believe Garry had any surviving children. Can anyone help?

Im looking for family members on my mothers side of the family tree. My mother past away on March 16 2008.
She was born on June 28th 1933. Her name is Victoria Barbara Jean Herald. I have no idea of were to find any of her family or who they would be. all I have are the names of her parents which was Barney Herald, my grandfather also not living. Her mother Rosetta Mercer Herald. My grandmother died at the age of 42 of stomech cancer and my granddad died in a car accident in oklahoma. I do know that my mother was born in Mobley Wetzel West Virginia. This is all I have. Can anyone help me or know this family?

John and Sarah Jane Robinson Herald

Does anyone out there have any info on these 2? I know they were born, John in 1853 and Sarah in 1858. They were married in 1874 had 8 children and supposedly both died in 1893 in Wayne Co WV. I don't know from what and I think they are buried in a cemetary on Tick Ridge. I'm not sure about this. John's parent's were James Riley and Bethany Marcum Herald.If anyone knows anything please let me know. John and Sarah are my great grandparents who I had no information on until last year. Their baby daughter my grandma was raised by Greenville and Pricey Nelson in Greenup Co Ky. I was only 9 yrs old when Grandma died and I have no Aunts and Uncles to ask. My Mother is also deceased.

John HERRELL married Annis LILES/LYLES in Fredicksburg, Madison Co., MO (close to Bollinger Co.)

William is listed in the household of John HEREL in the 1900 Census in Wayne County, MO.

Can anyone help add to or unravel this line of mysteries?

My great grandfather was Pall/Pouel Harrell/Herold. He is listed in the 1880 census as Pall Herold living in Kershaw County, South Carolina. He is listed with his wife, Josie and three nieces and nephews. Nearby are his brothers, John and Reuben (I think they are his brothers). He is also living near my other great-grandfather, Henry Addison.

In the 1900 census, he is listed as Pouel Harrell and his living is the household with his wife, Josie and children, Lizzie (my maternal grandmother) and Hammie. There is also a Wille Adison (my maternal grandfather) living there as a boarder.

My problem is that I cannot find them anywhere in the 1870 census. Anybody out there have any information.

I have a Susanna Nichols (Nicholas) in my family tree (first wife of my great-grandfather, Henry Hensley). In an old letter of his, he states that her parents were Green Nichols (Nicholas) and a Cynthia (Syntha) Herald. I believe Eliza Nichols was another daughter of theirs, she married Heenon Maynard, another Baptist minister. Does anyone have any information about this Herald family? "Howard S. Herald, 57, of Tazewell died Oct 18 in a Tazewell hospital following an apparent heart attack.

He was employed by the Virginia Department of Highways and was a son of Jessie F. and Minnie Hall Herald of Tazewell.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his widow, Mrs. Della Herald; one son, Rex Herald of Bluefield; two daughters, Miss Elizabeth Aliene Herald and Miss Kathryn Lucinda herald, both of Tazewell; five brothers, John E. Herald, Carl Herald, Curtis Herald and Clyde Herald, all of Tazewell, and Bill Herald of Herald of Grand Falls SC; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Amburgey of Tazewell; and one grandchild.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Peery and St. Clair Funeral Home chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. David Tennefoss officiating. Burial followed in Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell.

Pallbearers were Leonard Bowling, Brady Kiser, Charlie Linkous, R. G. Spurgeon, Herbert Tinder, Carl Sawyers, Ward Lester and Ben Tom Bailey."

Am in search of any information I can find about my father's family. His name was Noah Herald (later adopted the name Robert). He was born April 26, 1904 in or near Bowling Green, Ky. His father's name was John Herald and I think his mother's name was Louise Young. They also had two other children, William and Ola. The family moved to the Louisville area sometime before 1920. Louise became ill and moved back to Bowling Green, where she died. John later married again. His second wife's name was Pearl (do not know her maiden name). They had a son, John. They lived in Louisville. William Herald married Carrie (don't know maiden name) and they had two daughters. Ola married and moved to Florida. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for my GGrandmother's history. We had her listed as Sarah (Charlotte) Martin married to John A. Shaver. Couldn't find her before 1880 census, but working on the theory that she was married twice and was born a Herold since 3 of her grandsons were middle named Herold. Does anyone have a history on Charlotte Herald possiblly marrying a Martin.

"James Nelson Herald, 39, of Bluewell, died Saturday at Bluefield Sanitarium following a lingering illness.

Born at Thompson Valley, Va., he was the son of Mrs. Pearl Herald and the late N. O. Herald. He was an employee of Workmen's Compensation at Charleston.

Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife, Mrs. Carol Osborne Herald; one son, Gregory Herald of the home; five sisters, Mrs. H. C. Young of Norfolk, Va., Mrs. Henry Vanhoozier of Burkes Garden, Va., Mrs. William Elswick, Jenny and Thelma Herald of Thompson Valley; and five brothers, Raymond Herald of Huntington, Estel Herald of Lebanon, Va., Newton, Albert, and Eugene Herald of Thompson Valley.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Bluewell Methodist Church, with Rev. John Mendez officiating. Burial arrangements are incomplete.

The body will be moved from Union Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va., to the residence of O'Dell Bennett at Bluewell Monday at 4 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Hedley Peters, F. L. Riptoe, Garvis Walker, M. O. Ayers, Harless and H. B. Poff, Robert Mann, James Foster, and H. L. Sale."

"Mrs. Margaret Herold, better known to the people of this place as "Mother" Herold, was run over and instantly killed by a freight train near Ada, five miles east of Bluefield, W. Va., on last Tuesday afternoon, and her blind grandson, Jake, who was sitting on the track with her at the time, was painfully but not seriously injured. Her remains were brought here yesterday afternoon and interred in the new cemetery north of town. The deceased had lived in Tazewell for a number of years and still made this her home, and had merely gone to visit her daughter, Mrs. Eliza Chapman, at Ada, when the accident which cost her her life overtook her."

"Mrs. Cora M. Herald, 85, of 131 Hicks St., Bluefield, Va., died Monday morning at St. Luke's Hospital after an illness of one year.

Born in Scott County, Va., she was a daughter of the late William and Elvira Massie Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Herald.

She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Surviviors include two daughters, Mrs. Nannie Cotten of Bluefield, Va.; Mrs. Howard Smith of Princeton; three sons, Paul Herald, Va.; two brothers, Grant Johnson of Bluefield, Va., James E. Johnson of Indianapolis, Ind.; one sister, Mrs. Mary King of Cincinnati, Ohio; and 17 grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body is at Dudley Memorial Mortuary, where friends may call after noon today.
