Jacob Conrad Leonhand HERMES

My wife's gg grandfather migrated to New York City in 1854. It appears that he came to US as a teen and alone. Have been trying to locate possible parents. He was a barber in New York City. In fact, several possible siblings were barbers. Not sure if this was a family tradition. He became a naturalized citizen in 1879 and the witness was Louis F. Hermes (possibly a brother). Louis was granted citizenship in same month and it was witnessed by George L. Hermes.

Daniel HERMES m. Jacqueline LYLE (VASHAW) abt 1943

I am looking for the family of Daniel HERMES and Jacqueline LYLE (VASHAW) who married about 1943, place unknown. They had daughters, Susan, Mary Ellen, and Linda.

Jacqueline was the daughter of Howard "Michael" LYLE and Ella Grace VASHAW, both of whom were from Michigan.

I am researching the ROCK family and Ella Grace is a descendant on that tree.
I have an original Cabinet Card photograph of “Kenneth Hermes – 3 months old”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in Racine (Racine Co.) WI and he is a cute baby.

I found Kenneth in the 1910 census for Racine, WI, showing him as 14 years old, son of Albert J. and Helen C. Hermes. Social Security Death Index shows his date of birth as 3 Jun 1905.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Kenneth Hermes.

I he is the father to our Henry Lemerick, born 1855 the cencus guys seemed to spell it different each time. The only way we could verify was the childrens names and DOB of all members was the same. with Mary Scott born (also abt 1820) as Valentines wife. with Mary Brannon as Henrys Wife. Do you have any information on these people?, I have found the name spelled so many different ways it is hard to tell what is next. This information comes from the 1860 Census, Greene County Indiana, Highland Twp, Plaeas contact me ,
lemricks@crpud.net

Anna married a Rhinehart or Gebhart Grophear and had two boys; Rinehart 1877-78 and Joseph in 1880. Anna died in 1881.If the census record I found is correct, Gebhart was born in Austria. (taken from the 1880 census of Ottawa Co.Salem twp. pg.401B) It shows Anna age 23 with Reinhart age 2 and Joseph age 3 mo. Living just a few doors down is Louisa Hans age 40 widow with Reinhart,Joseph,Peter,Christina, and Mary (all the names and ages fit that of Anna's family). In the 1900 census,Rinehart Grophear (nephew) to Peter Herms(Ottawa Co.Salem twp.pg 216).
The 1910 Ohio miracode index shows Rhinehart with children Herman 1902-03,Mildred 1904,and Rinehart 1906.
This is all I know as the Grophear is a side line. My husband descends from Gertrude Hermes,Anna's sister.
