After much research, but without definitive proof, I have attached LUCINDA JANE HERNDON b. 4 Jan 1827 in McMinnville,Warren Co., TN and d. 10 May 1905 in Sherman, Grayson Co., TX. to JACOB CELLARS HERNDON and his first wife, JANE WEST, as child number five. The evidence I have is circumstantial, but overwhelming in my opinion.
I have a Pension Application for LUCINDA JANE HERNDON EASTWOOD dated March 1, 1899. It shows that her attorney was J.M. HERNDON of Lebanon, Laclede Co., MO. JACOB CELLARS HERNDON and JANE WEST had a son named JOSEPH MANNING HERNDON who moved to Lebanon, MO as a young man. I do not believe that it was coincidence that LUCINDA JANE HERNDON EASTWOOD who lived in Texas at the time had a lawyer named HERNDON in Missouri. That they were both from Warren Co., TN adds to the evidence.
In addition, I have a photograph of a violin that at one time belonged to THOMAS HENRY EASTWOOD, son of LUCINDA JANE HERNDON EASTWOOD and JAMES WILLIAM EASTWOOD that indicates a WEST connection. On the back of the picture, it says that the violin had at one time belonged to a great uncle of THOMAS HENRY EASTWOOD named WEST.
